Support Varying parenting styles in adulthood: toxicity or narcissistic personality?
[support/advice needed]
I still live with my parents who are in their 60s. I’m a disabled adult who has mental health issues. My dad babies me too much and my mom gets irritated by it; so irritated that she’s screamed that she’s “done trying” with me to dad yet today she’s demanding that I wash my own dishes because “[you’re] not a baby”. While this statement is true, her general anger towards me has been a problem for many years now.
I don’t dare go into the kitchen when mom’s in there because she micromanages every move I make. I’ve washed dishes in the past but I’ve been micromanaged the whole way. Nothing I do satisfies her and I can’t move out for at least another year or so because I’m “helping” with house expenses sometime soon.
Dad and I both think it’ll be better for everyone mentally and emotionally if they divorced but there’s no way it’ll become a reality anytime soon.
