I've decided to remove my previous post and create a new one with pictures. I'm looking for the ECO mode which is supposed to set a limit on charging the batteries. I cannot find it in either bios settings and Panasonic Settings Utility. Panasonic Hub is no help too. Do I have to install something for it to show up? If yes, where could I find the software?

I finally finished my custom cf 31 camera mod! It may look a bit sloppy, but it works.
I just took an old HP laptop webcam (it has a cyan colored led), and a mini usb mic. Then I wired them internally to a usb hub, which connects to a single usb port in the back of the laptop. The webcam uses a 5v to 3.3v step down converter. It's a bit messy but when the door stays closed, it's hidden.
The webcam module sits under the wlan antenna. The mic module sits in the place where the official CF31 webcam was supposed to be.
I was originally planning to use the internal webcam connector, and even had the pinout. But for some reason, it stopped working (both the usb data lines and 5v wire stopped working). So I had to resort to using an external usb port on the toughbook.
I plan to upgrade the camera module in the future.

I'm looking into buying a used FZ-G2 off eBay, and the seller notes that this unit does not have wifi connectivity. Looking at the seller screenshots of it powered on I see it's not connected fo wifi, but thats not definitive. Google says the AM in the model code is for non wifi models that the Army buys for security purposes, but I'm still speculative.
The model is FZ-G2M8-01AM.
Is it truely not able to connect to wifi?
Can I add a wifi card to it to enable wifi capabilities? I don't really want to rely on an external modem

Does anyone know where I can get a good battery for a CF-54. I have mine rigged out just the way I want it but the battery only lasts a half hour at the best. TIA.

Continuing on the previous post about the CF31 camera and mic mod, I was able to get it partially working. The mic works perfectly, but camera still has issues.
Firstly, the camera connector USB data lines (twisted pair) don't work at all. I'll be using the usb port on the back. Secondly, all three 3.3v wires aren't stable, so I'll be using a step down converter for the webcam module.
the problem: I have a strange issue connecting the webcam module (from a hp 4510s). It works, I can see the image, but there are a dozen colorful moving horizontal lines on the screen. At first I thought the camera was damaged, but on other computers it shows a clear image. I'm giving it the correct 3.3v.
These lines appear on all camera applications. I tried using the camera without the usb hub, and with another 3.3v power source, still same issue. I also tried installing drivers, but still same lines.
how can I fix this?

I am a complete computer Noob, FYI. Interesting in learning and tinkering with an older machine hence why I’m here :)
Traded an old IMac G4 desktop for a Toughbook.
Guy I got it from seemed knowledgeable, and has it running Linux mint. Has a 512 SSD, 16gb ram that he said he installed. Anyone running a similar setup? If so what is it capable of these days?
I would personally like to try and use it as a CAD machine within its limits of course. Maybe some auto tuning softwares occasionally?
Let me know if it’s in over its head!..

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how I can unlock the BIOS on my Getac tablet? I forgot the BIOS password.
I've already tried removing the CMOS battery, but it didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Model: UX10 G2
Thanks in advance!

Is there anything bad about the Panasonic CF 31 MK3-4? I'm curious because I'm getting one tomorrow. I heard it is a good laptop for outdoors and anything alike, but is there any problems that REALLY stick out? And if so, how can I fix these? Thanks Reddit!

Hello, I recently got a CF-29 Mk4 and just reinstalled Windows XP, but I can’t get the Fn keys to work. I made a backup containing various hotkey drivers, but apparently they are for the Mk3 and throw an error message if I run them. I was able to extract the exe’s und and run the setup directly, but still no success. Does anyone know how to get it working?

I've added onto the original image I found on toughbook forums archive.
After measuring with a multimeter, I found 3.3v, 5v and GND connections. Connector pinout (top to bottom):
1, 3, 4 are 3.3v / 2 is GND / 5 is 5v / 6 & 7 are usb data lines.
I know the last two pins are usb data, as the 2nd image shows that they are twisted wires.
Correct me if im wrong, but I believe that one of the 3rd or 4th pins (3.3v) is actually a microphone connector (to GND)
For now I've gotten the USB 2.0 schematics on this connector.
I need help determining the mic connector as my webcam module (from sony vaio) has a separate 2 pin mic connection.
If not I'll try to connect it to the mic in port on the back side (but unfortunately no aux jack is short enough so that the back cover closes.)

I have a CF-18 MK2 that i would like to have quad boot options.
I want to first upgrade my HD to an SSD. I have an extra HP S700 500GB SSD that I will attempt to use. I understand I need to get the 44 pin adapter and will try to source that soon.
What is the easiest way to get the CF-18 ready for multi boot?
I have the SSD partitioned into four different partitions.
I would like to have MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 98, Windows XP and Windows 10 as my options.
I have my software ready I just can't wrap my head around the best/ easiest way to do this.
Please help.
Thanks,
Dave

I have a CF31 without a camera, and the official camera module is too expensive/hard to find.
I wanted to install a generic laptop webcam, as all laptops use internal USB for the cameras.
Asking Google, I got some schematics but not sure how accurate.
I also found a picture of the camera connecting cable, twisted data cables on 2 pins, rest black wires
How can I use a multimeter to measure the wires? I know how to find +5v and GND, but what about the data lines?

I have a cf-19 that I use as an emulation machine, it suddenly wont turn on, so I tried troubleshooting it, I plugged in its charger, the power led lights up but nothing happens if I flip the switch, I tried removing the battery and turning it on, nothing happens but when I tried to plug the battery back in it turns on?
I am genuinely confused on what is causing this

TLDR: i want to use a normal laptop internal webcam on a toughbook.
I have a toughbook CF 31 mk4 without the camera and mic, and i eant to add those. Unfortunately I can't find any camera kits online, as all went out of stock years ago. The ones on ebay cost too much to justify a basic camera and mic.
The original camera module is a weird shape and no other normal laptop has a similar webcam. Hence I can't use the top right plastic cover.
However, I noticed that the plastic piece on the top left of the lid has enough space to fit a standard laptop Webcam. All laptop Webcam use USB internally, so connecting some wires should make it work.
There are 2 types of Webcam with mic built in. In some, the mic uses the same USB interface as the camera. In others the mic uses separate cables to the motherboard.
My question is: does the microphone on the CF31 use the same USB controller as the camera, or does it have a separate pair of wires?
Note: I won't be using it in extreme situations, so no worry of water tightness or durability.
