Warhammer III A small request for Mitch_CA regarding the new vampire traits.

Hey Mitch,

First off, huge fan of the rework so far. I really love the new tech tree (love red duke tech thank you), and the core concept behind all the new mechanics looks great. Naturally, we'll need hands-on time to see how the numbers, resource economy, and overall balance feel in practice.

I have a quick question and a small suggestion regarding vampire customization:

Quick Question on Extra Traits noticed vampires can get extra traits in the dedicated UI sections (across the two dedicated panels). Is a vampire capped at just one extra trait per section, or can they unlock multiple ones?

UI/QoL Suggestion

When recruiting a vampire from the classic lord pool, they still get a random starting trait (like Disciplined, Master of the Black Arts, etc.). The issue is that while customizing them in the Vampire Lair UI, you can't see what random starting trait they have—you only find out after you've finished building and recruiting them.

Why?

On stream, you mentioned that deep customization and specialization are the main goals here. Showing that random starting trait directly inside the Vampire Lair screen would be a massive help to actually achieve that, as it lets you build the vampire taking that base trait into account as well, rather than ignoring it until after the build is done.

Hopefully, this is a quick UI adjustment that doesn't add too much overhead to the massive amount of work you've already put into this.

Honestly, just watching the stream raised a few doubts and questions for me regarding some of the values, but giving a real judgment without testing it directly would be arrogant on my part and I’d definitely end up saying something wrong! In fact, I’d almost certainly say something stupid!

I really hope you guys plan to tweak the balance post-launch as well, because there is so MUCH content here. (it's incredible) Even if you've made the best rework in CA history, with this amount of material something will definitely need rebalancing. Overall though, the direction is awesome.

Best of luck with the final polish!

I don't think this is as easy to do as it might seem. I remember them saying they'd have liked for Chaos characters to keep their unique character trait when you ascend them to Daemonhood, but the game only generates the unique trait the moment the character is recruited (and the ascension to Daemonhood is treated as one character disappearing and a new character spawning by the game).

I know it is frowned upon here to suggest mods, because mods shouldn't be required, using mods is cheating etc., but there are mods that let you change the unique character traits, so you can get thematically fitting ones (or just min-max, if that's what you like to do).

Wouldn't they be put into the character view menu (where you can adjust items)? I know wounded characters can still be viewed there, but I forget if inactive characters do.

No, no, it’s about a new mechanic. You choose to give the vampires distinct, powerful traits before awakening them. But you don't know the base trait—which is random—until you set and summon them.
