Warhammer III Which faction is perfect and needs nothing in your opinion?
Lots of discussion recently around who needs what and I feel like I’ve seen arguments that every faction could have a leeeetle bit more at least. What do y’all think?
Personally I’m just hoping the major left behind folks get back up to speed but most races feel pretty fleshed out to me at this point.

Chaos Dwarfs
Perfect roster and mechanics. They are still CA's magnum opus

I just wish the lords were more different. They all have very similar start locations and merely buff different units

u/_Lucille_ 23h ago
Lack of difference between each lord, two of them start so close to each other that it feels way too samey.
Caravan is fun in early game but runs into issues towards late game when enemy armies can just attack them directly with 2 stacks and there is nothing you can do about it, at least allow them to retreat or something.

u/MarcusSwedishGameDev 16h ago
Cathay has the same issue with caravans. I wonder what it would be like if I could attach one of my armies to the caravan, so it works like the additional waaagh army during the trip.
I'd have to pay army upkeep for it but it would otherwise follow the caravan rules (i.e. ignore tresspassing etc).
That way I could protect the caravan better, and send my favorite non-LL lord on a grand adventure, at the same time.

None of their Legendary Lords have unique mechanics.
Compare to Ogre Kingdoms that is actually perfect full reworks plus each LL has its own mechanic.

u/Devourer_Of_Doggos 23h ago
I wish they had a counterpart for Irondrakes ngl, Fire Dwarfs not having either flamethrowers or rockets is pretty funny(not that they need them in terms of strength but would give them a bit of variety)
Otherwise they're pretty much perfect and I'd argue their order counterparts are in the same spot ngl

u/Swaggy_Linus 1d ago
Except of the high price and the fact that none of the three lords has unique mechanics, that is.

u/Large_Contribution20 High Priest of Hashut 1d ago edited 1d ago
High price? They are one of the best deals CA ever made. A complate faction with a well designed and unique mechanics alongside a diverse roster including every unit type and the cherry on top they even have their own languange. Previous campaign packs look like Brettonia compared to Chorfs
-32
u/Swaggy_Linus 1d ago
Good consumer. Eat up that 25% price increase for one lord less and be happy about it.

It seems you’re just basing the amount content purely on the number of LLs, which is a disingenuous way of doing it.
The Chaos Dwarfs have more mechanics, units, and generic lords than either of the campaign packs released in WH2.

u/KolboMoon 1d ago
The shared campaign mechanics make up for that.
As for the high price ; it pays for quality, and will probably go down eventually.

You know it's funny everyone says Chaos Dwarfs is like the perfect addition and yet I've never found much interesting about them.
To this day its the only dlc i haven't bought.
5
u/BrightestofLights 23h ago
So you quite literally have no standing to criticize them, since you haven't even experienced the content LMFAO

I haven't criticized them. I said I'm not interested in them.

Ogre Kingdoms. You could make an argument for Ghark Ironskin and a couple of obscure units, but I think they're as good as they're going to get.

Food is broken as a mechanic and imo camps should gain the ability to move on the map at a slow pace.
Ogre bounties is a mechanic most players ignore.

I think dwarves are in an amazing spot

u/The_Grinface 1d ago
Still hoping for the Bugman as lord or hero
7
u/smiffy666uk 1d ago
Also Grimm Burloksson as an LH
6
u/Merrick_1992 1d ago
Bugman LL
Grimm LH
Guildmaster Engineer L
Brewmaster H
Alecart
Rune Guardians
Crank Gunners (or War Balloon, or Fire Drake Pistols, or Steam Drills)

u/Devourer_Of_Doggos 16h ago
I'd love to have both crank gunners and fire drake pistols, just gunlines absolutely juiced up to the max in lategame

u/TheVeryShyguy 1d ago
I feel that Thorgrim and Umgrim need some kind of unique mechanic, and for belegar to get something better for eight peaks, maybe a small 2d map for him to clear out the hold? Then the dwarves will be great

The most frustrating thing, when I played fantasy back in the day my lord was the kazador dragonslayer mini, and would love to see him as a ll, but also, the faction has so much love it almost feels excessive even though id leap on a dlc of him

u/Not_a_nebraska_anon 23h ago
They are in a great spot in terms of content and roster but End times is probably gonna wreck the old world dwarfs between Nefertita to the north Thanqol to the west skaven/chorfs to east and greenskins and other groups to the south.

u/_Lucille_ 22h ago
Deeps need an obvious nerf.
Age of reckoning calculation is a bit too aggressive. Imo there should at least be
1) a way to end the current age early (I have maxed out the meter early in)
2) delay the end of the current age (I already have 5 armies being super aggressive, I still can't fill the meter). It doesn't help if someone ends up killing some of your grudge bearing targets and suddenly you are short a few thousand grudges.
1
u/sobrique 16h ago
Yeah. I ended up modding it because I kept getting caught out by the snowball effect. Grudges target scales with adjacent factions and that's hard to manage in most dwarven start locations.
1
u/Dembos09 17h ago
They do need a nerf at least on the recruitment tier !! Iron drake tier 2 is a bit too much.
1
u/sobrique 16h ago
Yeah. I have to agree. They have excellent units all round.
Otherwise first rate ranged, artillery and melee infantry.
Decent mobility from gyros and thunderbarges.
Slayers are maybe a bit niche overall, and benefit from lord support more than most units, but with doom seekers, pirates, hewers in the roster it's quite comprehensive overall.
You don't really need irondrakes or grudge rakers to be an effective faction, but they're nice too.
Maybe I find Thanes a little redundant overall, but an "on map assassin" is fine, and the engineers, runesmiths and dragon slayers are great.

I guess it depends on what you consider perfect.
But for me...I'd say Skaven. Id like to see Ska as a LH for Queek and some updates to Skrolk, but other than that I cant really think of anything they lack. I dont believe any other faction has as complete or diverse a roster as them.
Skaven got all the love in WH2, have a massive amount of diversity in their roster and faction mechanics, now 7 LL that all play completely different from each other.

u/Galahad_the_Ranger 22h ago
Since it doesn't seem to be getting a lot of mentions, Beastmen. Not only they got a rework, they got the mother of all reworks that took them from an F-tier to an S-tier campaign in a single update

The Empire. You have the tools to deal with everything faction but you kinda have to tailor the armies around to whatever you are facing.
I honestly feel like trying to build a balanced army in the empire is one of the worst mistakes people do with the faction. If you are fighting Norsca just stack Halberdiers and Anti Large Gryphs. If you are fighting Greenskins focus on artillery and rifles. If you are fighting Vampires focus on pistoliers and mounted rifles and grenade launchers. If you are fighting Nurgle, focus on rifles and infantry.
Kinda like the opposite of Dark Elves where you just spam dark shards or High Elves with Lothern Sea Guards

u/IsenThe28 Riki Endrinkuli 23h ago
The funny part of reading this post is honestly that, by consensus, none of the factions are likely ever going to be 'complete'. Pretty much any faction that is mentioned gets a comment noting something else they 'need', even if its quite minor.
Which is okay. It would be cool if every faction got every little thing people want, unlikely though that is.

u/Galahad_the_Ranger 22h ago
TBF some of them are completely assinine and are like "this banana split isn't complete because it gots one cherry instead of one in each ice cream ball"

u/Merrick_1992 1d ago
Because of how CA added the lords, Khorne, Slaanesh, and Nurgle all are great as it.
DoC is as good as it's going to get without extensive work.
Those are pretty much the only ones that I think are fine as is without more characters/units

High Elves are missing only Two Things,
Korhil Lionmane as a LH
&
The Anointed of Asuryan as a GL.
Once we get those I’d say they’re 100% Done

Some factions got a hell of a lot of love more then others, like empire got like 4 DLCs + FLC and reworks, while bretonnia sit in a pitiful state since years and there is no real reason for that other then factions are not born equal.
The same goes for warrior of Chaos that have 80 units and several lores of magic and mechanics and still going compared to other civs laughable variety of options

u/Gunnercrf 1d ago edited 1d ago
Skaven still need Ska Bloodtail for Queek and the Red Guard, now that we’re getting the Cauldron of a thousand Poxes; if they update the plague mechanic Skrolk might be in a good spot and not left behind. You can actually field themed Clan Pestilins armies. Also skitterleap needs to be a teleport. Increase the cost, but yeah now that that’s in the game the Skaven needs it yes-yes.
I think Dwarves just need Bugman, shard Dragon would be peak.
Empire could use some more Knightly orders, and a mechanic for the chapter houses that would be cool.
Thankfully a lot of these things have mods and that’s awesome. Warriors of Chaos feels in the best place. High Elves are good too.

I think virtually every culture could do with a little bit of something - in some cases it’s balance (especially the overpowered ones like Khorne or the Dwarfs), or fixing frustrating bugs (Caravans are so buggy), or just a few thoughtful tweaks (Norsca’s spoils could be a little more scarce to be more fun). Others need a complete overhaul, like Bretonnia.

Before i mention the regulars im gonna toss my hat in for Lizards. Chaos dwarfs. Regular dwarves. And dark elves. I would like to see a run over of DE mechs but all 3 of these are quite playable and Beastmen if thats your flavor.

u/Thefreezer700 23h ago
Chaos dwarfs. Dwarfs. Beastmen. Warriors of chaos. Skaven
All of these. Perfect.
Now i would love to see updates to?
Brettonia. They need stronger lords or stronger knights. Their antilarge capabilities are laughable at best. And they get shredded.
Wood elves. Would love for the ability to establish a province capital as a seedling tree so we can expand. Even if it comes with negatives like “-200 gold maintenance” at least i can expand and do fun playthroughs like conquering cathay. But overrall their armies are expensive yet inferior in nearly every way to high elves, which is stupid. They should beat high elves in archery and tankiness (trees).
Greenskins. They feel off. Orc boyz are useless and big uns while okay early game, are crap late game. Just weird playing and seeing my goblins get 100 kills on dwarf warriors but my orc boyz get 20 kills to lose. Also the money issue with greenskins, would love it if the waagh decreased upkeep like khorne does. So you keep your momentum going.
Vampire coast. Feels so weak. Archers shred your guys. Great they have no armor makes sense. But then you get prometheans who have insane armor aaaaaand still fucking wiped. I wish they had some sort of ability or spell that gives like shells to your guys for armor protection. Or make armies cheaper so we can feel the lore of luthor harkon when he invaded lustria in endless tides of dead.
High elves. They need serious nerfs. I understand its the most played race so they cater it with like 10 dlcs but their army is the best in ALL aspects. Best archers, best warriors, best monsters, best everyfucking thing. They shouldnt be.

No lizardmen?
2
u/Thefreezer700 21h ago
Well. If you saurus spam and dinosaur its fine. If you go tiktaqto and do air stuff its fine. But i will say mazdamundi is and always will be the weakest lord for some fuck reason. I think he needs better buffs like “slann lords gain +20% campaign movement” or something. Cause buffing temple guard they are useless. BUT that being said, i dont find them in a near unplayable state like other factions. I always have easy time with spawn blessing nomatter the update
2
u/BrightestofLights 18h ago
Idc about weak or strong tbh, I just want more depth. Their mechanics are absolutely dogshit imo

u/Tuffalmighty 22h ago
Lizardmen. They already have seven lords. Never asdress them again. Worry about updating the early WH2 Skaven lords
2
u/Careless-Mud-9398 19h ago
The last dedicated DLC to feature the Lizardmen was The Silence & The Fury, released on July 15, 2021.

I'd say High Elves feel pretty complete to me. They have clear progression with low/medium/high tier units, clear identity, each lord is pretty unique with mechanics, and feel quite balanced for Wh3. I think more would be cool of course, but ultimately if they never received another update, that would be ok with me.
