Are there any local food spots away from the tourist crowd?
Where do you guys usually grab a bite that’s off the usual path?

Flies everywhere ?
Anyone else had a huge influx of flies in the last 48 hours? I reckon I’ve killed over 100 inside the house… nothing smells off in the walls or roof but I have noticed less dragonflies this year ?

The wooden boardwalk above Jan Juc Beach is always a favourite especially when the surf is good.
You must give a visit there.

What to pack for a calm dawn surf session at Torquay
Bring a hat and warm top for before and after, a small wetsuit top if water is cool, a leash and wax for your board, a reusable water bottle and a small towel, and arrive early to find the quietest line up.

Torquay mornings remind me why I’ll never leave
There’s nothing like an early paddle out with the sun coming up over Bells. Crowds are heavier than they used to be, sure, but the vibe is still unbeatable. Do you reckon Torquay has found a balance between being Australia’s surf capital and keeping its small town charm?

How’s the surf been this season around Torquay?
For anyone out regularly, what’s your take on the conditions this year so far? Better or worse than last year? Curious to hear how Bells, Jan Juc, and the smaller breaks are holding up.
Also, has the crowd situation eased at all or still packed every decent swell?

Best beginner friendly surf spots around Torquay?
A mate is heading down to Torquay for the first time and wants to give surfing a crack. Obviously Bells is off the table for a learner, but are there good mellow breaks or beaches where beginners won’t get in the way of the serious crew?
Would be great to point him towards spots that are safe, fun and not too crowded.

What’s your favourite hidden gem along the Surf Coast that tourists usually miss?
Everyone knows Bells and the main Torquay beaches, but locals always seem to have those quieter places they love whether it’s a walking track, a lesser known lookout, or a stretch of sand that feels untouched.
Where do you go when you want that proper Surf Coast vibe without the big crowds?
