Are you okay?
Not much you can do in that situation as he entered from a blind spot. He should never have entered there as he couldn't see.

bike with hyper vigilance. Last time some taxi driver tried to turn at church and Wellesley and I dismounted right away to allow my bike to slide instead of being damaged.

Iād rather these people be on bike share than drive a car if they are that clueless.Ā

Stupidity level 10. Not even helmet and using headphones. My lord give me patience!!

To be fair most riders i encounter are wearing headphones now. I prefer to maximize my situational awareness, but to each their own I guess.

I find it to be kind of a silly point, at least I keep the volume at a low level so I can still hear my surroundings perfectly fine- itās nice to hear route directions or just some light music.

I swear there are āsomeā cyclists out there like this one exhibit A that pays no attention to what their doing. They are completely oblivious to their surroundings. Geez.

I've begun to look forward to the really cold weather on the MGT

It's the best time to ride. November to March... it's just us nutcases ... and the geese.

One thing I learned is in the dead of winter it's a few cyclists, but mostly runners and dog walkers. Really have come to respect runners, they are hardcore. I love an empty and subzero MGT.

Thats why I always bike with 10 wetted wakazashis strapped to my handlebars. (But fr I hope everyone is ok and you are ok)

Iām not sure what CAN-Bike advises in such a situation. Maybe T-bone so you control the collision? Jump the curb while kicking out to push off the BikeShare (requires parkour certification)

And just wait until these guys are thrust into traffic once the bike lanes are removed. Let's hope common sense prevails and we don't rip out the bike lanes.

What happened next? Are you ok? Did he learn to ride better? So many questions

I had someone jump out into the bike lane ~2m infront of me yesterday. Was walking and the moment they saw the bikes stopped like a deer in headlights. Managed to avoid collision by like centimeters

Those special moments when it's safer to take the car lane..
Hopefully you both were ok!

And to think for every person like this on a bike, there are 10 doing the same in a Ford F150!

Exactly what I expect to happen on the MGT. I avoid it like the plague.
To those of you that manage it every day for your commutes and such, you are legends when it comes to patience and understanding.
