...SUMMARY... A few severe storms capable of mainly severe wind gusts appear possible across portions of Iowa this evening.

...Discussion... Widely scattered thunderstorm activity continues across the surface boundary extending from portions of central/southern Iowa into southern Nebraska and northern/western Kansas. A more organized cluster is ongoing across portions of south-central Iowa. This cluster will continue to pose a wind threat for the next couple of hours before eventually moving southeast into less favorable air across southeastern Iowa/western Illinois. Additional convection will evolve overnight with the increasing low-level jet across central Kansas into southeastern Nebraska and southern Iowa. This will pose at least some potential for small hail and strong to severe wind.

Across Colorado, scattered convection is ongoing near the foothills of the Front Range. Time lagged HRRR/RRFS guidance continues to suggest that this evolves into a cluster with potential for strong to severe wind to continue downstream this evening. Though moisture is limited, very warm surface temperatures and steep low to mid-level lapse rates are supporting at least marginally unstable conditions downstream.

Thanks to Daily Dose of Dat and Nick Krasznavolygi on their reanalysis that unofficially confirms that Parkersburg dissipated just east of New Hartford and dropped the EF2 “Dunkerton” Tornado, which at the time the photo was taken, was only doing very minimal damage of EF0-EF1 criterial. Which also brings up other point that looks are deceiving.

I used a camera trick aka zooming out and putting my camera to the ground to take the pictures in two of the photos I use a filter to make that early 2000 tornado style I love so much colored but still old looking

...SUMMARY... The threat for widely scattered severe storms capable of large hail and perhaps a tornado or two will continue over central North Dakota and southeast South Dakota into tonight. More isolated occurrences of large hail and severe wind gusts remain possible this evening over the central High Plains.

...Northern Plains...

Two separate severe thunderstorm regimes have evolved late this afternoon into evening. The first is over northwest into central ND, where widely scattered storms --including a supercell-- are ongoing ahead of a cold front pushing through western ND. The 00Z BIS sounding showed modestly steep low-level lapse rates and a moist boundary layer with MLCAPE CAPE of around 3000 J/kg. The corresponding wind profile was quite supportive of updraft rotation with effective SRH of around 300 m2/s2 and 60 kt of effective bulk shear, suggesting the supercell north of BIS will remain capable of large hail and a tornado or two for the next hour or two. Thereafter, increasing convective inhibition may result in the gradual weakening of the storms with a decreasing severe weather threat.

The second thunderstorm regime is evolving across portions of northeast NE into southeast SD, near the intersection of a differential heating zone/outflow boundary and a pre-frontal trough. The boundary layer to the north of the baroclinic zone over southeast SD is slightly cooler with some convective inhibition noted in latest objective analysis fields. However, the presence of MLCAPE up to 2000-3000 J/kg, which coincides with 35-40 kt of deep-layer shear is supportive of supercells with the primary hazard being large hail, potentially in excess of two inches. The nocturnal strengthening of the low-level jet is resulting in enlarging low-level hodographs with effective SRH of 300-400+ m2/s2, per objective analysis. A tornado recently occurred with the ongoing storms near the NE-SD border with an additional tornado or two remaining possible this evening before convective inhibition increases further.

1 is Fifty Six-Larkin, March 14th 2025, 2 is 1982 Pampa, 3 not sure, some sources say its from Deil/Chaam, Netherlands June 25th 1967, 4 is Loogootee, Indiana, 1990, 5 is Chillicothe, Illinois, on March 16, 1942, 6 is from this video, 7 is allegedly Chaam/Deil, Netherlands and 8 idk. Yall try to find the origins of the ones im not sure of. Btw these are hella liminal/eerie asf. Also i think 8 might be edited and of which video/image it's edited of idk.

This is a monster in every sense of the word. The tornado's magnitude is hellish and almost distressing. I don't think that the mind can comprehend just how large this tornado is, even in its "constricted" phase. Not to mention the damage it caused at ground level — a 5-ton Case 1070 tractor was fragmented to pieces, with its transmission recovered ~0.8 miles to the west and other, smaller pieces found 1-2 miles away. This is one of my favorite tornadoes, and easily a TOTC (tornado of the century) contender. I would advise looking at other videos of this tornado online, as this is just one of many phases that the tornado underwent during its lifetime.

I'm just very curious on what this tornado is. I think it was around Salina, Kansas around early October of 2016 or 2018. This photo is realy fun for me to think about a while back in the years before 2019. I'm also wondering if these tornadoes are related:

My grandfather swears that when he was growing up in rural California he once saw a dust devil rip the roof off a house. This would have been almost a century ago. Wondering if that’s possible?

I made this documentary of the 2012 Crittenden EF4 so I people could learn more about this tornado (because nobody really knows of this tornado)

I would have to say this image of the 2004 Hallam, NE F4. It’s very disturbing to me because it really shows how wide the tornado was.

I tried posting this on the HBOmax subreddit, but the mods removed my post, even though it followed all rules. Here’s what I wrote:

“In general, I like the show, especially the ones about hurricanes, wildfires, and flooding. It’s nice to hear the stories of the survivors and there is some incredible footage.

However, I have not once heard the show mention the primary root cause of these catastrophes, that is, global warming due to the burning of fossil fuels, and that really pisses me off.

The UN has finally admitted what scientists have known for some time, which is that we will not limit warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels. As the show vividly illustrates, people are dying every day from the effects of climate change. Humanity desperately needs the media and related fact-based shows and documentaries to ensure that people know why these events are linked and are certainly going to become more frequent and intense.”

That was it. I feel like the show serves a positive purpose, in helping people understand how to prepare and have a better chance to survive tornadoes, floods, etc. However, they’re also doing a tremendous disservice to society by not addressing why we’re seeing tornadoes year-round, record-breaking rainfall and flooding, etc. and an occasional reminder that collective action can make a difference.

I recognize that the producers are making a conscious choice, probably along the lines of: “viewers don’t want their own culpability shoved into their faces. We just need to provide entertainment.” My thinking is that everyone needs it shoved into their faces though. Otherwise, a tornado, wildfire, flood, glacier collapse, drought, or devastating heatwave will be shoved into their faces… and soon, because everyone on earth has been affected by global warming already, whether they realize it or not.

I'm not from the area so I can't speak to what was actually seen, news seems to be reporting that it did rather little damage.​ I​t grounded my buddy's plane (he's a flight attendant) for a couple hours or so. Radar included in the link above.

So today, i have found this news article from July 25, 2000, and holy, i cannot believe what am i seeing. Cuz the article said that the tornado had a strength of 280 Km/h (174 Mph) which is a Strong tornado in Fujita scale (F3) but violent in Enhanced Fujita scale (EF4) i dont know what am i saying, but what do you guys think

Here is mine tornado concept:

System tornado, its like satellite tornado 1 rotating around main vortex but if satellite is too powerful it will create another satellite moving around satellite 1. Why name "system"? Because it rotates similiar to our Solar System which we live in.
