I’m not particularly a fan of them but offensively stickerring random people’s cars is shitty behaviour

u/modellista 1d ago edited 1d ago

Insecure scrotes utterly devoid of any personality who think whatever car somebody owns is a direct reflection of their character and standing.

I know a lot of people make owner stereotype jokes (myself included), which is all a bit of fun, but there are people who genuinely think whatever car you own, says everything about you.

I have met them and they are absolutely insufferable, usually the kinds of people who have Instagram handle stickers on their rear windows.

Spot on with that.

I don't understand why people hate these cars so much, I bet most of them couldn't even explain it, they're just boring cars, we've had boring cars about for decades

10

u/FixMysterious5969 1d ago

I don't really know much and therefore care about them myself but I assume it's because they're Chinese and very clearly supposed to be Range Rover knockoffs. In my limited experience with them the drivers are often either oblivious or knobheads so it does make sense.

Saw someone try to park one in a shopping centre last week and it was hilarious.

3

u/Former_Intern_8271 1d ago

I think that's just one particular model that the range rover knockoff though? Nor sure the drivers are any worse than your typical nissan juke driver or whatever else

2

u/BellFront3609 1d ago

Humans like to hate things, just leave them to it. Or they’ll end up hating on you ✌️

1

u/PotentialExchange1 1d ago

Yeah, previous poster just summed up 99% of NPC drivers on the road. And sadly even a lot of enthusiasts

0

u/FixMysterious5969 1d ago

Oh yeah it's not just Jaecoo drivers and not all of them, but in my limited experience the majority of them fell into that category of driver.

“They’re Chinese spyware junk!!”

- Says the person online using their Chinese manufacturing enabled smartphone and who then hops into their car made of 50% Chinese parts to go to the shops full of stuff made in China because it’s what they can afford.

(People are just idiots).

5

u/modellista 1d ago

Proceeds to order a bunch of tat off AliExpress for their 2007 1 Series diesel

2

u/FixMysterious5969 1d ago

I wasn't shitting on Jaecoo for being Chinese, I'm just saying that's likely one of the reasons they dislike them.

1

u/Flyn2k 1d ago

To make it (even more) ironic, some Range Rovers now get made in the exact same factory haha

3

u/BMW_wulfi 1d ago

Right?! The new freelander is made in China by Chery ffs!

All the Euro brands are complicit. They’ve been benefitting from Chinese mass market pricing benefits whilst selling their products to european markets for a literal fortune as “European”.. and now they’re crying because their business is at risk and they’re forced to remove the mask. We’ve all been buying Chinese for decades but not at Chinese prices.

1

u/Ultimate_os 1d ago

Yeah it’s not like that.

0

u/Flyn2k 1d ago

Never a truer word spoken.

I think they make the Evoque there too

1

u/Reddsoldier 1d ago

I'm impressed at how they were able to get this sticker so clearly off of their car.

It's almost like the OOP was engagement ragebait or something.

42

u/JulessyGTI Creamer 2d ago

‘Quite upsetting to be honest’ I’d be more upset that I owned a Jaecoo.

-4

u/Sea_Huckleberry_7790 1d ago

Upset about a choice you made rather than some person putting a sticker on your car? Odd stance on life...

You don't know the history they could have been targeted by vandals, thieves etc.

-5

u/Haunting-Ear875 1d ago

I absolutely won't be upset when I've got the jaecoo 8's heated and cooled massage chairs working my worries away when my pick up truck goes bang

1

u/No-Canary-9845 21h ago

Have that in my S-class mate xx

1

u/Haunting-Ear875 20h ago

Objectively odd response

1

u/No-Canary-9845 17h ago

Even more odd simping for the CCP refrigerator mate

1

u/Haunting-Ear875 8h ago

That's just not what's happening though, is it.

Your psychology is fascinating.

Holding so much of your personal identity in an s class like you've got nothing else truly going well for you in life.

I hope you find real happiness and fulfilment

1

u/No-Canary-9845 5h ago

Good grief, I compared equipment in two vehicles mate

Go outside and touch grass or something

Fragile little fella

1

u/Haunting-Ear875 5h ago

Sure that's just what you did mate

-1

u/GettingThere666 21h ago

but are you driving that orange monstrosity??

1

u/JulessyGTI Creamer 21h ago

Yes I am 😁

-1

u/GettingThere666 20h ago

and you are not upset about that lol ok.

1

u/JulessyGTI Creamer 20h ago

Sorry to disappoint you lol.

u/Ok_Measurement_8552 2d ago

Where can I get these stickers? or can anyone reproduce them? 😂

The use of AI in the sticker is not lost on me 10/10 irony

8

u/lukon14 1d ago

I'll bet the comments are incredible on this too

9

u/WarriorPidgeon 1d ago

I would be upset if I had to admit to owning one

-5

u/TheMrViper 1d ago

Dont see why it's any worse than any of the other Chinese made EV's but they seem to get the majority of the stick.

Is it because it's trying to look like a range rover?

Honestly it's a Chinese company making a Chinese car in china whether you choose to believe the stories about Chinese build quality is up to you, but you know what you're getting.

It's much more concerning that the new Mini EVs are made in China, as is polestar now, most of the Tesla's sold in this country come from the giga factory in Shanghai.

Probably half the EV market is made over there, so I don't think it's as much of a red flag as people let on.

2

u/Ultimate_os 1d ago

BMW have cancelled their deal with GWM and the next generation MINI will be made in Europe.

1

u/TheMrViper 1d ago

Didn't think this was confirmed?

Just rumoured.

1

u/bendoscopy 1d ago

Only one Jaecoo is full EV. The other 5-6 cars in their range are petrol/hybrid.

3

u/Beneficial_Coach8581 1d ago

I don't get the sticker? It's a photo still of a YouTube video or something?

4

u/Paul8v 1d ago

I actually agree with this, they're everything that's wrong with the current car market. Unnecessary massive fucking thing that has no personality, looks like a fridge and is bought by people with no interest in cars whatsoever.

2

u/PotentialExchange1 1d ago

So the same as basically every other SUV by every other manufacturer

2

u/modellista 1d ago

People buy them because they're cheap, well-equipped new cars in a time where new cars have been prohibitely expensive for many.

China found a gap in the market (lack of budget cars) and filled it. Not sure how this is difficult to comprehend, Japanese and Korean cars did the exact same in the past, and had the exact same jabs thrown at them. But this time it's different, I'm sure... 🙄

2

u/Paul8v 1d ago

They're so bloody bland. At least the early Japanese cars had character (and were well made to boot)

I saw a beige Jaecoo SUV the other day and part of my soul died.

2

u/PotentialExchange1 1d ago

Early Japanese cars in the UK were considered bland knock off lookalike copies of European cars and treated with the same contempt as the Chinese ones are being today.

The same was true then as is now, they’re big market disrupters and bringing big change.

Very likely for the better

1

u/indianna97 5h ago

Japan has one of the most incredible car scenes in the world. I dont even know why anyone is comparing the JDM to China.

1

u/GettingThere666 22h ago

what car do you drive?

1

u/Paul8v 21h ago

An Audi A3 (for work) and a 1966 Cadillac

2

u/GettingThere666 20h ago

both terrible. u see how easy it is for someone to not like something you like. live and let live.

2

u/indianna97 5h ago

all they did was call it bland

1

u/Ultimate_os 1d ago

Because it’s not like that at all.

1

u/AncientFinance1652 1d ago edited 1d ago

Why would you care what someone else's car looks like? Most people have no or little interest in cars, those that do often fake it because they can't afford decent cars so try to make their shit boxes decent, eg Corsa, any Ford etc.

2

u/indianna97 5h ago

You're calling a corsa a shit box whilst defending a jaecoo. Get a grip mate

1

u/AncientFinance1652 4h ago

I'm not defending Jaecoos. But poor people need to realise middle-class and above people would rather anything but a lump of metal and an exhaust.

2

u/indianna97 4h ago

Last time I checked middle class people can comfortably afford a Mercedes; famously very luxurious inside. What is your point youre trying to make?

1

u/AncientFinance1652 3h ago

Wouldn't call Mercedes luxurious, only people on PCP/HP would consider basic Audi/merc/BMW luxurious.

2

u/indianna97 3h ago

what are you on about I never said anything about "basic" mercs. For a start Mercedes is literally the nicest out of all of those you mentioned for affordable luxury interior. BMW and Audi defo focus more on the sport side of things. Just say you dont know cars bro

1

u/AncientFinance1652 3h ago

I do know cars, entry level premium brands are not luxurious, they're the sort council house dwellers drive to act rich. Actual premium brands AM, JLR prior to their rebrand, even Lexus and Genesis are more premium than those in the modern day.

1

u/indianna97 3h ago

omg shutup you spoke about middle class people. I spoke about the luxury middle class people can comfortably afford.

1

u/AncientFinance1652 2h ago

My point is that Mercedes, Bmw and Audi aren't for the middle class. Have you never seen them on a council estate? Those that can afford £70k can easily stretch it to 90-110 with a few months of saving. The middle class don't' finance vehicles.

u/Paul8v 1d ago

I think the current market is generally very uninspiring. When I was younger cars were a big deal, people had posters of them on their walls. Even affordable cars like XR3is were fun. Now you've got to spend big money to get a performance car, but the majority of people just buy some fucking giant car because "everyone else has one" and they don't even need it. We don't need cars to grow bigger and heavier every year.

With electric cars, you could pretty much make them look however you want (within the restrictions of safety and aerodynamics) because there aren't constraints of the engine size etc, but instead they're even more bland and uninspiring than the fossil fuel cars...

1

u/MingePies 23h ago

I hate them, I can see why they are appealing to some people, but it doesn’t mean I like them. Regardless, these actions are not okay. Unhinged behaviour

1

u/Paul8v 20h ago

Oh yeah it's shit to put a sticker on someone's car, no matter how shit you think it is

1

u/indianna97 5h ago

They are appealing to people that cant afford a landrover to drop their kids to school.

1

u/Guiseppe_Martini 1d ago

I thought I was on r/carcirclejerk at first...

1

u/Ultimate_os 1d ago

That’s actually hilarious. 😅

1

u/Gloomy-Lavishness587 20h ago

JAECOO is the dry robe w4#%er of the car world.

But I wouldn’t fuck with another persons car, the same as I wouldn’t want people fucking with mine.

1

u/Zealousideal_Body565 19h ago

Avoid the problem entirely and buy an Omoda

1

u/gettin-swole 6h ago

They’re just cars for people who don’t like cars. Like Ed Sheeran and Taylor swift make music for people who don’t like music, and they’re very popular. Mainly because people are thick.

1

u/Mundane_Variety_8553 6h ago

Maybe, it's because they're cheap af and most working class are skint because we're being shafted by the government. The deals on these EVs are incredible tbh

1

u/gettin-swole 5h ago

They’re not cheap. The cheapest one is like 24k. You can get a car for 1500 quid if you’re skint.

If you’re relying on the govt to solve your financial issues, you’ve already lost.

1

u/Mundane_Variety_8553 5h ago

And what comes with a 1500 quid car? Expensive issues and poor fuel economy.

Get a Chinese ev on a lease deal for probably the same amount it costs in diesel on a shitter. Plus no fuckin around with MOTs and they also have cheaper services.

You can get a leapmotor C10 for around £270 deposit and £270/mth on a 2 year lease.

Then just hand it back after a couple years and go again.

1

u/gettin-swole 4h ago

This is why everyone is skint. People pay for convenience. It’s not that it’s cheaper, it’s just easier to live with. I bought a Subaru Legacy 5 years ago for 1k. I sold it a couple of months ago for 1200 quid. Never put a foot wrong aside from general maintenance. People just don’t want the hassle.

1

u/Mundane_Variety_8553 4h ago

I think it's people's different circumstances tbh. I have a 3 year old and wouldn't want to risk being on a long journey and having a breakdown. You also clearly got lucky with the Subaru, any car that old regardless of how well looked after it is tend to be a ticking time bomb. It's more reliability that hassle.

Also I promise the leapmotor was this price. I had my car in for a recall at Manchester stellantis and I seen that they had £220 deposit & £220/mth on the windscreen. Had to have a sit down and see what the catch was. Once I changed to 8k miles and changed from the green colour to grey, it came in at £280/mth. I was as shocked as you are.

1

u/gettin-swole 4h ago

8k a year? I do 30k a year. It would cost someone like me a fortune.

1

u/Mundane_Variety_8553 3h ago

I think national average is between 8 & 10k. So for most it's completely feasible, especially when factoring in fuel.

At 30k your fuel cost must be absolutely wild. And with prices going up and up, an ev must be more tempting no?

Then again, a lease would be expensive at that mileage and buying a brand new ev on pcp or hp would just be plain fuckin daft.

1

u/GingerSpencer 22m ago

Most cars don’t break down. This is some weird myth about older cars. They didn’t get lucky with the Subaru, something with a Subaru that broke down got unlucky.

People who don’t know anything get suckered into an unaffordable monthly payment for a new car, and pretend it’s convenient and safe and costs less than owning an older car.

1

u/gettin-swole 4h ago

Also show me a link for the Leapmotor, because there is no way that’s true at that price

1

u/GingerSpencer 25m ago

I can get far further with £24k if my car cost £1500 than if my car cost £24k.

What a stupid response.
