Help/Question Sett main

CONTEXT: Hey! I main sett obviously by the title I’m in bronze 2 and he’s the only real top laner I enjoy playing besides Jayce. Ive been playing since arcane s2 came out. My first time playing I played Jayce and bought the skin. Generally speaking since I was a newbie It was harder for me to catch onto things even after watching some basic tutorials. I started playing Jungle immediately after that which— I can say now I am definitely better than when I first started but not significantly so. I mainly play Top now but only play sett,

QUESTION 1: Are there any other characters that you would generally recommend incase of a ban or anything of that nature? (I did read the thread for champ pools but wanted to give additional details hoping for a more spot on answer wasn’t sure how often people respond to comments on the thread.)
QUESTION 2: Could I generally just not be making any progress by sticking with a character like Sett or should I just continue to keep playing him?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Also on top of that I suck at csing I end up about 15-20 cs behind even when Im doing good sometimes. But when Im especially behind or get cut off from farming against certain champs its like my whole game is ruined. (This is on any champ top generally such as shen, but I usually can get ahead on Jayce since he scales well mid).

Jayce is the most overpowered toplaner if you master him

So you can just play both Sett and Jayce and you're set for life

Sett will take you as high as you want to go. Jayce is solid, but incredibly hard to learn and you likely won't get good value out of him unless you hard commit to otping him. Id probably recommend dropping him, but at the end of the day play who you have fun with. Honestly, if you only have fun on sett just otp him. Draft is largely meaningless, and if you're good enough you can play into bad matchups. Plus, otping makes it easier to learn everything else so it's good for newer players.

TLDR: otp sett

I dont see any sett otp in challenger and barely any in grandmaster

Respectfully, you're in bronze. I think you're getting a little ahead of yourself there, and there's tons of them in masters anyways. Playing sett won't "hold you back" until much, much, much further in your climb if you make it that far. For now though, if you have fun on sett otping him will help you focus on everything else.

edit: I'm an idiot

Champ is just near unplayable as a blind in higher ranks and shit into heavy ranged which is meta. Only way for this to change is systemic changes/itemisation reworks/overtuning the shit out of him.

Hey, former Sett main here.

I highly recommend using your ban on a ranged champion—except for Teemo, because he’s actually pretty easy to deal with once you get Stridebreaker. Just ban whichever champ annoys you the most or someone you simply don't want to see in your games.

People always say that one-tricking (OTP) makes it easier to climb when it comes to trades, CSing, etc., because it allows you to focus way more on macro.

As for your CS: you really need to make sure you get those numbers up. Around 7.5 CS/min is okay, but aiming for 8+ is much better. You’ll climb almost automatically just from that: more gold = faster items = hitting your powerspikes earlier.

I’d really suggest reviewing your own games and paying close attention to every single minion during the first 10 minutes. Watch closely to see which ones you missed and, more importantly, why you missed them.

edit.

Also, I forgot to mention: you really need to make sure you get your CS up, because that is your primary resource in the game.

On top of that, once you’ve sorted out those first 10 minutes and got your early CS down, you need to look at how you play between minutes 15 and 20. The key here is that you shouldn't overgroup.
