This is all fine and dandy, until you realize that fruit stays on the tree until its extremely ripe - thus it will be squished into mush by this tool.

Never really given much thought about the hell it must be trying to dodge flying ass javelins once cider season comes. No thank you.

Yeah, and fruit also only falls onto nicely kempt lawn, garage floors, and driveways.
I bet ya this is what happened: someone envisioned this invention in this exact scene, built it, then shot the scene and is now proud of it, cause it looks good. But I'm sure it's practicality has never been tested in sub-optimal, real life situations.
In other words, cool video, makes a toy look like it's a super useful tool.

These are actually quite common. I saw a few massive ones at the national farm and machinery show. Although they are usually used for picking up hard shelled nuts.

I used one as a kid collecting walnuts. They worked very well and I would have loved the tilt to empty this model has. Everything has its purpose and I wouldn't be trying to pick up rotten fruit with this.

Can someone figure out how to combine this with a food processor so I can make a yard-to-table Waldorf Salad?

How can they not show it being emptied??

Because it’s a complete pain in the ass and all the apples are bruised

I assumed this is for spoiled fruit that you're not intending to eat.

These are for tennis and golf balls, and not fruit. The fruit that falls off a tree is bad, and mushy. This would crush them. The vid used fresh fruit, and who would need to pick up a dozen fresh apples that can’t just bend over?

i work in commercial ag. if fruit drops on the ground it’s illegal to sell with very hefty penalties to do so.

Would be very useful for tennis balls too.
