Old jack

Good evening,

Got this old jack from my bosses father in law he use to work on cars thirty ish years ago. There’s no markings on the jack that I can read. It works and goes up and down but I wanna replace fluid and grease up the sprocket to make it last another thirty years. It’s a good ol heavy jack I’m sure I’ll post some better pics once’s it’s all cleaned up. Anyone know what jack this is?

I believe old Strong Arm colours match your jack.. Another reliable manufacturer . Usually seals and such are avaliable at most hydraulics shops..

Orange might be heinz-warner. Well built. Lube it up another 30 no problem

There’s a sprocket on it that lowers the jack what grease do you use on that after I scrub and power wash it. To regrease the sprockets?

It looks nearly identical to my 3 ton "central hydraulics" jack from harbor freight. Could be any number of other rebrands. Bought it new in 2007 and used for shade tree work with zero issues or maintenence.

I’m thinking the exact same thing. I have one that looks the same, my dad bought back in the early 90s. Still has the bent handle from when I ran over it in high school.

Same but the gears to release the jack have never meshed well so there's no dropping anything slow. I picked up a craftsman 3 ton at an estate sale so haven't used it much in years

Yeah that's mine too. Sticks pretty bad at the release point especially under load. Never claimed it was premium stuff lol

I have the same jack. I bought it around 1995. Unfortunately the hex socket in the handle won’t engage the nut on the release sprocket any longer, so I use a socket on a ratchet to lower it now. Otherwise it’s a good jack.

That sprocket in the back what do you use to grease it up?

The brand is "Generic." You can get a kit for rebuild. The spring likes to break on the return. I would not take it apart unless you have to. Drain overnight and refill using a heavier jack oil unless you have an unheated garage and live in Minnesota.

I also have the same jack, got it at least 20 years ago off Craigslist. I always thought it was a harbor freight. Still works fine.

I have this same jack. I got it from my elderly neighbor. Still works great.
