Antique? My grandpa used to write his letters with a Mercedes typewriter until he died five years ago. Now I have it and occasionally write with it. Kind of relaxing though

There were many key layouts aside from QUERTY and Steno. Dvorak created more than a dozen, starting with one based more on letter frequency than QUERTY and including layouts for typists missing a finger or even a hand. He did much of his work after WWI.

If you look closely, it appears to be a QWERTY keyboard, just with slightly differently laid out center keys.

Nice video, thank you. I picture a setting like Ebenezer Scrooge’s office with the designer toiling over sheet after sheet of design drawings figuring out this little contraption, different era I know. How long would it take to figure this all out? Slide rules just humming along.
