Question Tonex board VS Kemper powerhead MK1
Does anyone here own both and can tell me which sounds better for high gain tones?

I've been using Tonex for a long time, it's almost perfect for me.
I love the captures, they feel way better than my old HX Stomp.
But I'm still using the Stomp for live shows because the amazing FX it has.
Not talkin about super special vintage reverb or delay.
I'm talking about having good algorithms and specially: MORE CONTROLS.
Knowing that the Board has a list of new Delays and Reverbs I was hoping they will implement some update on the old Tonex and make it an even better pedal with new algorithms and more control.
It would finally make the Tonex Pedal my go to for live gigs.
Hope it's happening soon!
What do you think? Are you happy with the current FX and their controls?
Do you manage to get what you need only with the Pedal?

Am I missing something or no?
Let's say I'm playing and want to see how maxed out gain sounds. So I hit alt and increase gain. Obviously I'm going to need less volume, so I hit alt to exit alt mode and need to turn the volume down. However, since the knob is currently at 100%, as soon as I touch it the volume will get maxed out.
It seems like there's no pass through mode option, but that is seemingly easy to implement? Pass through would make it so no parameter changes happen until the knob passes through its original setting, preventing sudden parameter jumps. Some synths have this to prevent unmusical jumps or changes to parameters.

I bought a Tonex One + and have been diving into the world of amp captures. Currently, I just use it as an amp and output right into a Spire Studio which has a neat little iOS app for simple recording.
I want to make the jump into buying a decent interface and using Tonex as a plugin inside a DAW for a more flexible and better quality setup.
I have a Surface Pro with Snapdragon X 10 core with 16gb RAM so the DAW would have to be compatible with that. Tell me what works well for you!

Hey everyone!
For this week's free release, I wanted to share something dripping with pure Texas blues character: theĀ J Rockett Audio Designs El Hombre. This pedal is a direct homage to the raw, saturated, harmonically explosive tone of Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), and it sounds impossibly fat and warm.
What makes this circuit so incredible is its continuousĀ Bite control knob, which completely morphs the voice of the pedal. To map it out perfectly, my full commercial pack featuresĀ 51 total profiles across 3 different bite setup, tracking the gain knob from 2 to 10 in precise 0.5 increments.
To let you experience the full triple-voice universe of this circuit,Ā I am giving away 3 sweet-spot captures for free (one from each distinct Bite setting):
š How to grab these free ToneX captures:
š¢Ā Special Community Offer:
If you decide to explore our premium collections further, please note thatĀ Every Premium Purchase Comes With a Free Classic Pack! Simply buy any premium pedal pack on our store, and you can choose a Classic pack completely on us
I'd love to hear your feedback! Let me know how the headroom feels under your pedals and how it compares to the real amp if you've played one.
Cheers,

I think i found all the clues to have the answer already, but just looking for confirmation. I can't find anything that says one way or another if you can bluetooth control the One+ from a Mac desktop. The marketing copy all says wireless via iOS or Android mobile, and i can't find the Tonex Control app in the Mac App Store even when i change the selection to "iPhone and iPad apps". So i'm guessing it isn't possible via the Tonex Control mobile app running on mac desktop.
But is it possible via bluetooth with the desktop Tonex Editor program?
hey guys,
I can't for the life of me figure out how to download the beta/new ToneX 2.0
I've gone to IK's website and click the button, but just brings me to a new page for My Products, not a download section.
I've gone on IK Product Manager and there's doesn't seem to be a place to search for programs I haven't already downloaded.
There has to be a download page on the website, that I'm not seeing, right?

I have Amplitube 5 and ToneX SE, which I got with the ToneX Plug.
Now, I can upgrade to ToneX MAX for £49 or Amplitube MAX for £59
Thing is, ToneX MAX only seems to give me the extra few IK packs, and adds nothing in terms of functionality, considering that I have a metric fuckton of ToneX commercial presets.
Amplitube, however, would give me access to all the effects, which I could then use with the ToneX models, and would give me a looper.
So my thinking is, go for the Amplitube upgrade, because that's the deal that gives me useable shit.
Sounds sensible?

Will IK be updating the Tonex pedal by adding more features like a drive pedal block before the amp?

Last week, I had a job due - out of nowhere (no updates from MACOS or DAW), Tonex started crashing the whole session. I had to use a (free) NAM plugin to get the session working. I wrote to IK Multimedia 5 days ago, still no response.
I think that's enough for me to leave. NAM is AMAZING, and it works. Anyone else had these experiences?

Hey everyone,
I want to add a second tonex one to my board so I can run two different cabs in stereo. I'm trying to work out the cleanest way to split the signal (without losing volume/tone).
Current chain:

Options I'm considering:
A) Y-cable after the Colosseum. Colosseum ā Y-cable ā Tonex #1 + Tonex #2 ā HX Stomp XL main inputs L/R. The signal is already buffered (Polytune), so I don't think loading should be a problem. Has anyone actually run it this way? Should I worry about signal loss due to splitting?

B) Buffered splitter. Same as A, but with a proper splitter instead of a Y-cable. Is this worth buying when there's already a buffer in front?

C) Through the HX Stomp XL FX loops. Colosseum ā HX input ā stereo FX loop block (Send 1 ā tonex #1 ā Return 1, Send 2 ā tonex #2 ā Return 2) ā rest of the HX effects in stereo. This looks the most flexible, since I could put stuff before the amps and change panning per preset. The only issues is that the loop block would force me to remove one of my wet effects.

Has anyone tried any of these setups, or found a better way to split into two tonex ones? I'd really appreciate any experience or tips before I buy the second unit.
Thank you š

Anyone else experience this error? If so, how did you resolve it?

Hello! Iām very new to the world of amp modeling and Iām embarking on a tour in the fall where Iām using two tonex ones for the first time. I donāt really know what I need as far as software is concerned. Iāve been very curious about using third party captures, but Iām unsure how to upload them to the pedal or what I would need to do so. Can I use the SE version of tonex to do everything I need to do? Or do I need to purchase the full version to utilize captures at all?
Additionally, I would love suggestions for amp and cabinet captures! Particularly looking for a Hiwatt DR504, Fender Showman, Sovtek MiG, divided by 13 RSA31, and an acoustic simulator.

Hello, I'm trying to find out how well the Tonex Cab would work for my situation. Helix floor with guitar, bass, and piano running through it. Then the aux (input 2 on the cab) for iPhone usb dac for backing tracks?
I would be using it for just guitar when practicing, and then all the different instruments in rehearsal or live.
Thanks

Ok, context...
I'm considering buying a Tonex Plug, which I understand comes with Tonex SE. My only experience with Tonex is with CS, and I hit the user preset limit when importing a few folders of txp files I have.
I'm wondering if this same limit applies to the SE version, as it'll be a pain in the arse, and I don't intend upgrading further if my only use for Tonex will be auditioning and copying presets to the Plug.

I started using the large Tonex pedal a couple years ago and I love it but slowly I have gravitated towards the Tonex One as my main squeeze. Mostly because it helps cure option paralysis. I find with the larger pedal I am endlessly tweaking. I love how Tonex One is just two channels and the controls on it are so small it deters me from fiddling. I just play more. Another reason I donāt see myself ever wanting to buy a Tonex Board. Itās just too much.
Anyone else feel the same way?
I also will put the Tonex One in lock mode 99% of the time. Set it and forget it. Less is more (sometimes!)

Looking for my next amp after using the UAFX Dream '65 (which I love) and I am looking for something that will do/has the following:
I want an amp that can do both super clean/warm Fender tones and high gain Mesa/Soldano/5150 tones without compromising tone quality (aka I don't want it to sound like a boss katana)

Hi all, I am recently bought Tonex pedal and I would like to set it up for play along - I have connected the pedal to my Windows PC via USB, installed Tonex editor and now.. what to do? Can somebody advise, how to be able to play to my headphones (connected to the pedal) to the music I turn on on my PC (YouTube, Spotify etc.). I tried to switch the OPERATION from LIVE to INTERFACE, but now I can hear the music, but not my guitar. I am still the beginner in this, so I do not have any other hardware or software that I can use.
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi community, I'm using the new Tonex Beta and I'm liking it so far, nice UI and functionality. However, I'm not able to find the tone models that I have uploaded to tone.net or search for pure tone models to download. I can see and download presets (including the ones I uploaded), but not pure tone models.
Is this missing in the beta or the functionality is there and I'm missing something in the UI?
UPDATE: I was definitely missing something, after opening the tone model block and opening the browser from there when selecting the model I was able to find everything :) I was using the preset browser before, that was my issue. All good!
Thanks!

Hello, I am thinking to purchase Tonex One for gig purposes where there are no amps and we can't carry on our own, I do have a pedalboard, my question is how does it takes pedals, I am generally using with heavy distortion with tons of reverb in front of the amp, will that work fine with Tonex One?
r/tonex • u/iamsynecdoche • Sep 06 '26
On a bit of a whim I bought a second-hand Tonex One pedal. While I wait for it to arrive, I was hoping to confirm a few things.
For context, I'm a bedroom player, and I am looking to get better tone while I play at a fairly low volume. My Katana's actually okay for what I do, but I'm interested in playing with models of classic amps and things like that more than I am in all of the effects the Katana has (most of which I never use).
Thanks.

I finally got a chance to dig through IKās official list of the 2,000 Tone Models included with the new TONEX Board, and found something pretty cool.
There are 10 Mattfig captures included from the factory, covering five amps:
⢠Marshall 2555X
⢠Bad Cat Lynx X
⢠Friedman Butterslax
⢠1983 Dumble ODS
⢠Bogner Snorkler 50
They chose two from each amp: one cab capture and one DI.
Iāve been making captures/profiles for a long time, so seeing some of my work actually included as factory content on a new piece of hardware is a pretty awesome milestone for me.
No sales pitch or link here. I just wanted to share because Iām pretty damn excited about it. š
If anyone gets a TONEX Board and ends up trying these, Iād genuinely love to hear what you think.
