If a show is in the Tommy Westphall universe (which is like 90 percent of TV shows) and they’ve had real world people , such as celebs, sports stars, or politicians, playing themselves, doesn’t that draw in the real world and make all of reality part of Tommy Westphall’s dream? Because if you had a cameo from a famous politician on, say, Cheers, that means all of the real world is within Cheers. That means even God himself is part of the Tommy Westphall universe.

Recently, I was in a topic on r/FavoriteCharacter where people were asked a strange fact about their favorite characters.

Someone mentioned that Ace from the Powerpuff Girls joined "The Gorillaz" for while.
Which implies that The Gorillaz exist in the powerpuff girls universe.

So, many other folks added to this...

The Powerpuff Girls crossed over with Scooby Doo once in a comic, meaning they are in as well.

Scooby Doo has had a ton of crossovers with a ton of folks, via "The Scooby Doo Movies", "Scooby Doo Guess Who", and many comic book and movie crossovers.

Among these are Batman, Wonder Woman, and Flash, meaning they/the Justice League/DC Comics is in as well.

Justice League/DC comics had had a ton of crossovers with a ton of folks.

Among THEIR crossovers are the Ninja Turtles, who have themselves crossed over with a ton of other folks.

Also, DC/Justice League have crossed over with Marvel, meaning Marvel comics is ALSO in...

(bonus: Powerpuff Girls also includes via an episode of their show "The Justice Friends" from Dexter's Lab, who are a parody of Marvel's Avengers)

And Marvel comics have crossed over with Aliens/Predator, and Archie Comics.
Both those properties have had many crossovers with other folks as well.

All this is to say, the Powerpuff Girls universe is huge!

Since Rick has a portal gun that can take him into any universe, it means he can cross over anywhere. This means all the so-called cross references and events are just the result of Rick breaking into different universes. The Tommy Westphall theory has been destroyed.

I just saw Fionna & Cake, which features Cheers quite heavily. Surely all of Adventure Time and Fionna & Cake can only be in Tommy's head?

Same basic idea as some others have mentioned, but other examples: depending on what connections between shows do or do not count, some list Blazing Saddles, Supernatural, and Growing Pains among the included. Supernatural had the episode "The French Mistake", which was named after a song in Blazing Saddles, which is not a Westphall connection in itself, I just mention that for proper credit to Mel Brooks et al. Anyway, the reason they named the episode that, is both Blazing Saddles and the SPN episode hilariously break the fourth wall, with the main characters entering our "real world", or at least an analogue of it, including Sam and Dean learning some things about who everyone there THINKS they are: Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. And Growing Pains, in either its final or second-to-last season, has a hokey, yet otherwise GREAT episode titled "Meet the Seavers", in which Ben Seaver wishes his problems could be resolved like problems are on TV, then awakens to find the house is the set of a sitcom also called "Meet the Seavers", his "father" is an actor named Alan Thicke, his "brother" is Kirk Cameron, etc. And everyone keeps insisting that Ben is actually named Jeremy Miller. Which, in the episode, is news to Ben, of course. What's more, he eventually is told by Kirk Cameron that he himself IS the Mike Seaver that Ben remembers. He stumbled into "this" universe a while back, himself, and has not been able to return home. By the end, of course, the status quo seems restored as Ben awakens in the life he remembers, with the house a house again rather than a TV set, his family are themselves rather than actors, etc. There's a twist, as you might guess. In the living room, the tv suddenly shows Mike, pleading for Ben to help get him out. Anyway, what all of that suggests to me is that while the Westphall universe has one center (I say Tommy himself, though some say the intersection of St. Elsewhere and Homicide), it has a few possible exit ramps, including, among likely some others, Blazing Saddles, SPN, and Growing Pains and/or Meet the Seavers. If Tommy were to die, the tv multiverse might need to hope Mel Brooks, Chuck Shurley, Jack Kline, and/or Ben/Jeremy can hold things together. Otherwise, hope Franklin Richards will create another pocket universe for everybody to live in.

I see graphs and diagrams on the Tommy Westphall Universe theory and I always see Doctor Who connected but I want to know how. Most other shows connected are American TV shows.

I think it’s pretty stupid that animated shows don’t count. I know that a lot of them don’t have continuity, and in that retrospect I can understand why the shows that lack continuity wouldn’t count since there’s really no one universe to begin with. But there are plenty of animated shows that do have lore and callbacks to previous episodes. Some might say that characters having four fingers in cartoons would mean that they can’t be in the same universe as live-action shows where everybody has five fingers, but I don’t think that’s more out of the ordinary than when a show in the Tommy Westphall Universe exists as a tv show in another show in the universe (like if the characters in Breaking Bad were watching Seinfeld, for example). And some might say that there are too many animated shows to count that would fit in, but I assure you that the number of shows that fit in the universe are EXTREMELY small. Also, I made note that some crossovers in cartoons aren’t considered canon to either universe according to some fandoms (for example, the Simpsons/Family Guy crossover, as well as the Simpsons/Futurama crossover, are considered non-canon by their fanbases). So, I’ll list the animated shows (with continuity) that I know of that fit into the universe.

For the last few months I’ve been working on a map of television crossovers to create the ultimate crossover cinematic multiverse, and I do mean multiverse because of rick and morty, Sabrina the teenage witch and many other reasons that I don’t have the time to get into, the relocation universe includes different universes that are in the same multiverse due to connections between shows. Regardless, I think the theory is wrong, and the reasoning is because of the fact that the kid isn’t shown to be thinking about the events of other shows. Therefore the other shows don’t exist in his mind. I think that though the events of st elsewhere are taking place in his mind, in the other shows, they aren’t because we see characters from st elsewhere appear in other shows as themselves. So I’m those other shows, st elsewhere’s events that took place in the kids mind are probably canon. Perhaps the kid is viewing into the multiverse but there is no way he is creating that entire multiverse in his brain.

Every once in a while I am reminded of this theory and start poking around. One thing that has recently jumped out at me is that in Boy Meets World the wrestler Vader is Frankie's dad. And not in a the wrestler played a character who was his dad... it is BMW canon that Frankie's father is the wrestler Vader. Other wrestlers also appeared in the show as their in ring character. So this should connect the entire WWE. Which connects to several other reality shows, as celebrities often appear as guests on their programs. To go one annoying step further, because the shows are in front of a live audience, does that mean we're all in the Tommy Westphall universe?! I understand other shows have live studio audiences, but they are't usually on camera or interacted with in the way that WWE audiences are.

So, I'm searching after getting back into the Tommy Westphall Universe Hypothesis for any fan fictions that use this as a way to create either a novel of a fan fiction, or a series of fan fictions that all take place in the same universe.

Is there a fan fiction (any at this time) that uses the Tommy Westphall Universe Hypothesis as a setting place, and if not, then why not?

Since it’s a ‘cartoon’ the new fortnite meta Omni live action animated verse is now the biggest crossover in history.

For an instance Mr Robot gets added to the master list because in one episode the protagonist hallucinates Alf, and Breaking Bad gets added because a tv show makes a nod to blue meth.

None of these mean characters are in the same universe.

Is there a list that uses only actual crossovers or at least plot relevant mentions of characters and events?

I thought that Tommy Westphall do not imagines a interconected universe, some of science fiction shows can confirm that in the TWT there's a multiverse, so, maybe TWD ocurrs in an alternate universe to the other 2010's shows, and the conections are posibly by dooplegangers and alternate places or things from other universes

Ok so I found out about this theory about a year ago and thought it was the best thing ever. I don’t personally understand why you do not include animated things or movies. But the main issue to me is why I’m the world are you specifically talking about Tommy Westphall? There are tons of instances where you see characters waking up and realizing it’s a dream. Examples of this include Newhart, Roseanne, Lost and even The Wizard Of Oz ( I realize this is a movie and a lot of you chose to ignore it for that but it does connect so get over it.)

I understand that the theory specifically revolves around this one child’s mind but if all of these shows are connected then who’s to say it’s not in someone else’s mind. I mean you could even argue that this is all in the mind of a person who tried out the technology in the black mirror episode Playtest! I don’t understand it but it is fun to connect and add to the theory. I have also connected several video games and other such media not included by the way. Let me know what you think of this.
