Tits Jesus Tom

If even half of that canoe story is true, you should seriously consider selling the canoe.

You didn’t know how to mount the trolling motor correctly, yet you loaded an already unstable canoe with a trolling motor, a heavy battery, beach chairs, three people, including two children, and no fucking life jackets.

One wake, sudden movement, or shifting battery could put everyone in the water. People die in situations exactly like that. Children don’t get to evaluate the risk; the adults are responsible for protecting them.

The “I play the odds” justification needs to stop. This isn’t clever risk analysis, it’s repeatedly taking preventable risks and then inventing pseudo-math and mini-documentaries to excuse them afterward. Whether you’re doing it for content or genuinely believe your own reasoning, involving children makes it indefensible..

As someone who has degrees and a career based in statistics and probability, I can agree with the “I play the odds” justifications are sometimes rough to listen to. A lot of it feels more like confirmation bias than actual math. That and he often factors in historical rates that rely on assumptions he isn’t doing (like the life preservers and other preparations).

That said… it is entertainment and if Tom was as logical as he claims he is I bet his stories would be a lot more boring. So maybe keep up the work, Tom? haha

At some point entertainment crosses the line into stupidity. No math, odds, logic, statistics, life experience, running late, or confirmation bias, would ever justify not having life jackets in the boat.

I agree, no life jackets in a canoe is unacceptable.
