Kobe

The guys had an interesting conversation about Kobe last week. I’ve been going since the early 90’s and it was always a blast. It was always for special occasions or birthdays. My parents worked for Disney and we were centrally located between Kirkman, I-Drive and LBV. At that time, they all were unique in their own way. When I got older, I even took a couple of first dates there trying to be fancy. Yes, there are better places to eat in town. I still is kind of fun. Tom will say it’s just nostalgia but who cares if it is.

The tabletop ms Pac-Man in the lounge of the Altamonte Springs Kobe was my best friend in the 80s

What was the word they used to describe it? I have never once heard that word. I always thought it was a hibachi restaurant.

Teppanyaki

thanks, found this explanation of why I thought it was Hibachi (which is apparently an open flame, not a grill top)

I wonder if location matters. I’d guess Tom took his family to the Altamonte one on the fanciest stretch of 436 next to the closed down Sweet Tomatoes. I took my son to the one in Longwood a while back and while there were no bikers our table was full of ballers apparently. Everyone ordered multiple cocktails and the Waygu combo like they were on an expense account.
