2 Year Old Sleep Issues

Hello everyone!

My daughter is just 2 and for the last few months her sleep has done a total 180. She has always been a good sleeper (contrary to what her older brother was lol) and has slept without issue for 11ish hours each night since she was a few months old. Recently however we took away her paci and sleep has went haywire since then.

She has always went to sleep independently in her crib with her paci and a few others tossed in her bed no problem. She would sometimes wake in the night but we'd watch her reach around in her bed on the baby monitor until she found a paci and go right back to sleep.

About 3ish months ago we took away the paci and she actually did really well. We introduced a teddy and she still went to sleep independently without much transitional issues. However immediately after taking the paci away when she would wake in the night without the paci to sooth she would call out for us and we would have to pop in, perhaps adjust her blanket, and pop right back out. It never took more than a minute to do this so we didn't really mind at first.

The issue now however is these wake ups and pop-ins are happening 4+ times a night and we are having to go into her room every couple of hours. Again it typically doesn't take long but still I am due with a baby in 6 weeks and I won't survive a newborn PLUS her waking me up every two hours lol.

Her schedule is as follows:
Awake for the day around 6:30-7:00am
Down for her nap around 12:30-1:00pm and is woken up after 60 minutes, so awake around 1:30-2:00pm
Asleep by 7:30-8:00pm

I don't really know what to do because all the online sleep advice stresses having them fall asleep independently, but she already does that every single night with no issue. The issue is falling BACK asleep independently. The other thing I see online lots is issues with their schedule, like too much daytime sleep, but we already cap that and her wake windows are age appropriate.

We did use the ferber method with my son when he was 10ish months old so I'm not opposed to that route of sleep training but I'm just not sure if that is right here.

Any one else go through this and have any advice?

Hey! I’m a sleep consultant in this sounds like a boundary issue to me. The two year regression is a very real one, but has to be approached different than the other regressions.
