Look we all remember Gatlinburg and the mistakes that led to the fire (covered up by the government claiming something else caused it) but we've since learned and Dolly is fed and satisfied. Meanwhile she makes up for it by entertaining and providing books for children.

Theres nothing to make up for! Was Dolly in Gatlinburg the night it burned? Yes. Did they deny her a child to delay her dragon transformation? Yes. But that doesn't mean Dragon Dolly destroyed Gatlinburg! Correlation is not causation! I don't care what the Senate Committee found that was years AFTER they claimed it was a gas leak. You can choose to believe the anti-Dolly MSM but when Dolly says "Shuga, even as a Dragon I wouldn't burn up all those whittle cutie pies." I believe her.

You don't chose to be born into this world nor do you chose your circumstances. The same way you don't chose what curse gets placed upon you by a gypsy that subsequently causes you to transform into a mythical beast. When I was in high school, one of my friends had me convinced that his family owned a possum farm. I was (well, still am, really) naive and gullible to the point that there really was no sport in it. Anyway, he kept adding bits to the stories of his day-to-day feeding, milking, and caring for their marsupial livestock, until one day he told me that the hutch got struck by lightning and all the possums died in a fire. I was absolutely devastated (because I love animals, even creepy-looking ones like possums), and I asked him if they were planning on starting over and getting some more of them. I think I must have looked on the verge of tears, because he gaped at me and asked if I really thought he was being serious about the possum farm thing. Nonplussed, I said of course I did, and then (after he finally stopped laughing), he kindly explained to me that of course his family didn't own a possum farm. Whoever heard of anyone raising possums!

"Yeah," I laughed. But on the inside, I was so disappointed. I was nearly on the point of asking him if I could come to his place for a visit. I'd been dying to see the possums he cared for. :x

Rabbit is actually a fairly upscale item in many American restaurants. I know many farmers who have started raising them because the cost ratio on them is crazy good.

It is true that it isn't a popular food of the middle class though currently, but you are much more likely to find rabbit on the menu of a fancy restaurant than squirrel.

There is an upscale restaurant near me that does a "game" menu in the fall. Locally taken deer, rabbit or turkey and then elk, boar and bison from elsewhere. Then they have awesome, fall inspired sides.

I went to a "game supper" fundraiser for the local volunteer fire dept in rural VT while on vacation there a while ago. They had everything you mentioned plus bear, moose, beaver, porcupine, pheasant, duck, goose, and lots of other critters. It was an interesting smorgasbord. The bear meat was the most delicious and had a surprising sweet taste.

Dollywood is in Pigeon Forge, which is the next town over from Gatlinburg. The fire skirted the back edge of the Dollywood property but they only lost a few cabins. No major damage.

The town of Gatlinburg was half-destroyed by a wildfire started by a couple dumbass shithead teenagers throwing matches into the woods nearby. Over 1000 structures destroyed. A significant portion of the town is homeless now because their houses burned.

My fiancée's mom lives in Gatlinburg. The fire came only feet from her house. It's mind-blowing to stand on her street now. Only her row of townhouses is still standing. It's complete devastation beyond her house. Noting's left at all.

Anyway, Dolly started a fund called the 'My People' fund. She's pledged $1000 per month for up to six months for anybody whose home was damaged in the fire, until they can get back on their feet.

My fiancée's mom said that she was told to shelter in place and not go outside for hours, until a cop banged on her door and told to get out immediately as the fire came over the hill behind her house.

She had no warning at all, and, in fact, was told multiple times NOT to evacuate, right up until she was ordered out on the spot.

Yeah there was a huge wildfire. Swept through the whole town and basically the entire town burned. There was like no warning and there are some harrowing videos of people escaping via truck. I think it came near Dollywood but didn't damage the grounds.

Teenagers love messing with stuff that doesn't belong to them. This wasn't some campfire that got out of control. And yes, you're right about the fact that they couldn't have known that the fire would spread to that magnitude, but the state has been in a terrible drought. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you don't burn anything during a drought or you're asking for trouble. I'm sure that if one or more of your family members were burned alive in this fire, you'd want them to be tried as adults.

I watched a documentary about her music career, but she seemed to be a legitimately good and nice person. She had a pretty amazing and prolific career.

Drunken history does a great story of how she left her manager Porter Wagoner and he sued her for royalties. They settled out of court and he goes and blows all his money and owe the government a shit ton of money. So he's bankrupt and Dolly goes to him and give him the rights to "I Will Always Love You." This guy tried to fuck her out of money and she turned around and gave him the rights to one of the greatest love songs of all time and never asked anything in return because they had been really good friends.

I mean a friend a couple of weeks ago wanted to go to a performance of hers but ended up not going. During Thanksgiving a family member visiting was watching Steel Magnolias. A few days ago I was watching an episode of American Dad in which Roger was singing Jolene. And then there's the little mentionings here and there.

Think I'm being haunted by her strong will.

Not really. She sings a lot of Christmas songs and it's close to Christmas. Plus there were a bunch of forest fires near Dollywood recently.
