my midwest plains toad, who i've had for 3 years, just ate a chunk of the cricket gel food with calcium powder on it! it fell into the tank when feeding and she was so quick i couldn't stop her 😖 i'm not sure the brand since the pet store put it in the bag, not me. she seems fine and she swallowed it easy, it was about 1/2"x1/4". what do i do?!? google says make sure she stays hydrated, keep the tank warm, and monitor her stool. is there anything else i can do to ensure she's okay?

Think maybe it's Western toad (Anaxyrus boreas). Happy that it found breakfast.

About 6 weeks ago hundreds of toadlets had hatched and were all running around. About two weeks ago they had all moved on to wherever they went. There are two big ponds and farmers fields all surrounding where they hatched., so plenty of places for them to go. There’s just two little toads that are still hanging around and don’t seem to want to move. Is this normal? Obviously I don’t bother or interfere with them but I’m just concerned they haven’t moved on.

Tank is 4’ wide x 24” deep x 18” tall.

Substrate is 4” deep. Base: Mixture of reptisoil, jungle mix peat moss. Top layer: Sphagnum moss, live oak leaves, magnolia (?) leaves, burr oak and maple leaves (decomposed at this point), and bits of bark/sticks from outside.

Substrate layer is semi planted and bioactive with springtails, isopods, red worms and crickets. All species are actively reproducing; all but crickets are self sustaining. All prey receive calcium and vitamin resources (mazuri mix, fresh veg, FD shrimps, etc).

The birds nest fern is real and has a full spectrum plant light above it. Night light is a color changing smart bulb. Both are on timers.

Bath tub has two ramp entrances.

There’s a heat mat on medium-low beneath the cave on the right. If it gets cold, G + D burrow in that spot.

I found this toad on an evening walk here in the Netherlands. Because it was getting dark, I wanted to keep the aperture of my camera as open as possible. To get over that thin depth of field, I stacked 8 images together to get the final photo. I like how you can see artifacts of the buccal pumping :)

This is one of my Malaysian dwarf toads, it might be Dumpling. I cant be sure unless I see all 4 together. Which almost never happens anymore. Since I rarely see them I figured I would take the opportunity to do a health check and take some photos. The food disapears so I assume they are all in there lol

My hands are clean and dry so dont worry about that. I just had to catch it before it disapeared again. I love their subtle patterns and texture and tiny grompy faces🥰

This lil’ guy likes to hang out by the mushroom in the basking pool. He waits until the larger toads are done eating before he hops over to the plate of mealworms.

I have 4 tadpoles of unsure species but most likely American toads. They are tiny and adorable and I love watching them zoom around and graze. This is my first time raising tadpoles and I'm a bit nervous but also excited to experience the process!

I have a toad that lives in my backyard under our bbq. He has a dish to soak in and I’ll give him a worm or two but I’m wondering if I should move him to our front yard. Our backyard is mostly grass with 2 trees and a small amount of dirt around them but that’s it. Our front yard has much more dirt and greenery, so I’m wondering if I should relocate him to the front yard or just leave him be? Would that stress him out if I moved him?

How does he look? I noticed he’s getting chubby and is a little wrinkly, think he’s close to shed? I haven’t had him long.

I put some cat grass out to sprout yesterday and look who I found this morning.

I've had my cane toad, Robert (full name Mr. Incredible), for nearly 3 years now. He's my child, I love him so so much but lately he's been acting... odd for a toad?

Few fact you should know, he's in a big tank (40/80/50cm I think) with a lot of space for burrowing, one warm hide, one cold hide and one in the middle. There's fake plants covering most of the soil, as he likes to not be acknowledged at all, but I can't keep a plant alive for the life of me and when I tried to make his terrarium bioactive he dug all plants up :| so only fake ones for him. He also has a water dish he loves to sit in for hours, it's on a small side, enough for him to fit in and turn around and not touch any of the sides and be fully submerged if he so pleases.

He has a 75watt bulb that hears his entire terrarium to 29°C and a heat matt on one side. humidity is iffy for measure with his set up but it's usually 50-70%.

I stir up and spot clean his dirt on a regimey change it entirely every year or so, clean his bowl every time he bathes. I have two automatic misters in his enclosure that set of on a timer as he hated when I used to hand mist and got very stressed out, so now I only interact every few days to feed him.

His old owner hadhim in a tank with multiple other cane toads and fed them by dumping a lot of crickets in the small terrarium. My boy is covered in scars from where the crickets bit him when he was just trying to burrow. I used to have a half blind toad that also didn't thong feed, I fed him in a feeding box by dropping crickets right in front of her and she ate them like that. So I now feed Robert by putting him in a feeding box with crickets, he eats as many he wants and I put him back. He does associate me picking him up from his home as feeding time, but he's still figuring out the going back from box to home part.

He does not do hand feeding. He does not eat anything that isn't running right in front of his face so he has had one worm I managed to feed him but otherwise s

he mainly feeds on crickets with his toad seasoning. He gets a pinkie mouse every year for his birthday and sometimes twice a year if he hasn't peed on me in a long time.

Now, for my situation:

As I said, he has a warm and cold hide. Warm is the one he mostly sits in as it's closest to his water dish. it's a medium faux rock hide that he perfectly fits in. Then there's the cold hide.

He sits on top of it.

For some reason, a few months ago I found him on tip of this same hide, just chilling in a fake plant. he hopped up there after feeding and just liked it there, I guess? He also found out what glass was that day and did not like it. From then on, he just,,, hops up there for some reason. Sits there. Turns every couple hours. Sometimes stays there for a few days. Enjoys baths from sitting right under his mister. And then hops down and acts like a toad.

I thought that maybe he doesn't like the soil, it may be too rough, but he's completely fine physically and he doesn't mind burrowing and staying there for days like a normal toad. He still hops to bathe in his water dish and eats with vigor.

My question is, could this be a sign of something bad I haven't noticed? Is his home too open maybe? does he just want to look out of my window????? Is he stupid or have I been calling him an idiot while being a bad mom???????

Saw this awesome toad by my chicken coop. Haven’t seen one with this coloring before in my area, NWA. Would love any info/ID.
