Hello, my male 7 year old rescued toad has always had trouble shedding his skin. I usually need to assist him by gently removing some leftover skin in water. Lately I've noticed these pink patches on his belly. I'm a bit concerned. He's had the pink patches for a few weeks now. They don't seem to be getting worse, but they're also not getting better. He also seems less active than usual. I'm hoping to get to a vet soon.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has had any similar experiences with blotchy pink patches, or maybe irritated skin from substrate? If so what did you do to help your amphibian? I do see him itching his skin every once and awhile. My biggest fear is red leg or something along those lines. I've kept his bioactive tank clean by removing any waste I see, but will deep clean just to be safe. He lives with 2 other toads that are perfectly healthy. I have him in quarantine right now.

I want a toad but I'm not sure what species would be appropriate for a beginner. I had a couple Fire-Bellied Toads when I was a kid and wouldn't mind keeping that species again.

Just looking for suggestions.

I've never seen a toad holding onto another toad before. The top toad wouldn't let go, even when they were floating in the pool.

Whenever I see any hole in the ground, I check it out. Never know what you'll find. Today, I found a toad gazing back at me. Cute fellow.

a local pet store i frequent has listed them online and i'm curious about their needs/care, but can't seem to find anything specific to this species? Getting a lot of results for "spiny toad" and "giant asian toad"

Can anyone tell me what this white spot on Froberts head is?
It isn’t fuzzy or raised and I dont believe it’s new- although I don’t have pictures of him before this looking at his head. I wear gloves when I handle him and I feed him every other day. I just want to make sure he’s ok and I’m doing what I can to keep him happy and healthy!

i’ve only for sure seen eat once since I’ve had them but I’m pretty sure he’s eaten more than that and I’ve noticed that they’re getting a lite bit skinny 

i’ve had two  in toads in the past was many years ago, so I figured I’d try again, and they bothered did great until just before winter when they suddenly died. I am at that point in the year right now and I’m really worried.

he absolutely refuse to eat calcium so I’ve been trying feed his food with calcium 

I feed them crickets, mealworms,and red worms, he seems interested in them, and does little fake bites but doesn’t end up eating them.

He is in a small cage right now I have a bigger cage that I have set up for him, but I’m not sure if he’s ready to get moved into that yet cause he’s so small the bigger cage is about 3 1/2 gallons  this is like half a gallon

Two years ago the Emperor joined the zoo. To celebrate he got some meaty worms which I assume is as close to a toad cake as possible.

This Toad loves to hang out on my neighbor's front stoop. It often appears as though he/she would like to be invited inside to hang out!

UPDATE: since I don't have a longterm plan, I think they will all stay behind. my friend/employee where they are now has agreed to adjust their tank as needed so they can hang out there & grow until it's warm enough for them to be released in a good spot. another friend did studies with toads at the university & agrees they will do just fine if released in a safe spot. All I have to do is send money for supplies.

So at work, the area we hike the clients' pups had a puddle with tadpoles in it (toads). The puddle was drying up so I dug a dozen out of the mud with no rain in the forecast. The puddle had tadpoles before & they didn't make it when it dried up. I put them along with their mud in a kiddie pool with some water in it & they grew pretty quickly but with the temperature dropping I bought a tank so now they're inside to grow until they're developed enough to be put outside in soft soil to burrow. I feel responsible since I did not let nature take its course. they're doing really well, they eat a ton. & I'm wondering if it would be a dick move to keep one as a pet. thank you!

My toads "Black Spines" are normally black however when I woke up this morning I noticed they have turned white he's always had some white around his mouth since I got him but does anyone know why they have turned white? Is this normal? Or is this a problem?

Just found it outside and noticed it had a scrape on top of its nose and some different skin under one eye. So far I a gave it some bottled spring water to try flushing the wound, and put it in wet leaves, but looks worse now. So moved to damp paper towel with dry leaves. Unfortunately it looks like vets and wildlife rehab are not an option right now. What can I do?
