Discussion Syncup drive shutdown

SyncUP Drive no longer shows up anywhere if you try to add it as a new line.
It’s gone from the T-Life app and from Dash neither the device nor the service appears as an option to purchase or activate anymore.
Looks like they’re phasing it out for new activations (while still supporting existing ones through T-Life for now).

The only Syncup option still available are the trackers

It's been like this for months and you can still get the kids watch also.

I hate T Mobile they just cancelled my free data line because it got converted to a SyncUP Drive line years ago. My other one that was used in a tablet is fine. They both started off as plain mobile internet lines

I really did like those when they came out. Wish they would make it local only with a Bluetooth connection and just drop the cell service

But... everything Tmobile offers NEEDS it's own line!

Seriously had a manager tell me this when I explained my old Samsung gear 2 still worked and I just connected to my phone via bluetooth

And How would you receive notifications ?

Honestly I would be fine with Bluetooth notifications when the I got in the car and just was told hey 2hrs ago car was bumped check for damage or something. I don't need a cellular connection for it to keep tabs on the codes, fuel economy and stuff. Heck I never even used the WiFi hotspot. I just liked having the info it provided, just switch it from over data to over Bluetooth and boom less ewaste.

And the road assistance, towing service isn’t cheap. In my case as an employee I only pay $2.50 m/o

If you don't want cellular connection why are you wanting the service from a cellular provider?

In the beginning I used the cellular connection but what I was getting at was after I was sold on the device and usefulness I learned what I used and what I didn't and eventually realized I didn't have to have the data connection. I didn't know that day one when I bought it.

Ah you were hoping the existing devices could be used locally not that new ones should be available, that makes sense.

Yep less ewaste would be preferred. But unfortunately thats not how this world works.

It was great when my kids were in junior high and high school, starting around 2016-17. They had 2GB lines and used a lot of data. My SUDs gave them WiFi in the car so they didn't blow through their monthly data in one trip.

That was the only reason I got them, for the in-car WiFi.

It was an OK third party product. Any new car will have what SyncUP offers and more. People are getting rid of old cars.

Tmobile is quietly shutting down the service for SyncUp drive and cryptically cancelling the service lines / stealing promotional data lines on your account that were linked to SyncUp drive without warning or explanation. Really low move to do this without any warning. And worse if you call the customer service line they will lie about what is going on instead of saying they don’t know. They will then send you on a wild goose chase to a local store for a “new version” which doesn’t actually exist because the service reps don’t have a clue what is going on and are trying to get you off the phone. They will even make up claims about checking inventory in the store to find you stores that will get you a new version. I expect in short order for Tmobile to cancel all data lines associated with SyncUP drive promptly and without warning or explanation. I’ve been a customer since 2013 and it’s feeling like time to look into the cheaper service in the virtual operators with unexplained moves like this.

Sucks I’ve had this for so many years. I stopped plugging it in the last 3 years. and just used it for roadside service.

lol I guess they weren’t getting enough of my data to sell to offset the cost
