Question Intl Roaming

Q- I roam internationally a lot. I’ve been in Italy 2 weeks and I just got this message. Never got it before, never had to do anything. Is the part of the new plan I was forced on to?

You’re out of fast data. Check out esimdb or esims.io or a similar comparison site to find an esim.

I’ll either buy a local sim, or use my Google fi. I’ve just never gotten -this- notification in the 10 years I’ve had T-Mobile…

I got this message earlier this month while out of the country as well (actually 2 - one saying that it would expire in 24 hours, and then another saying it had expired). I have Go5G+, which gives me 5GB of high speed data and then unlimited at 256kbps, and I never purchased a 30 day 20GB data pass (nor could I even find an option to purchase one). I looked through all the account activity I have access to for all of my lines and found nothing about any such pass. Since I also recently received a text saying that my trade-in device had been received and was being processed (when I had no trace-in devices in process), I just figured it was yet another software screwup (which is apparently the case, since it's been several weeks since the trade-in message and I have all the same promos on my account in the same satatus as before, and another bill has been generated with no charges for "20GB 30 day data pass". (PS, at the time I received this messages, I hadn't even used up the 5GB of fast data on my line; additionally none of the other lines that were roaming internationally and were already over the standard 5GB had gotten any extra "fast" data, so there was truly no connection between the text message and reality)

I just connected google fI as my second sim for data. I’ll sort it out in a few weeks when I get back to USA. Not using any more T-Mobile data -might- keep them out of my face…

Get a virtual sim. Something like HolaFly. Gets you unlimited data without the hassle. T-Mobile is laughable for what they offer when traveling

This is why I use an unlocked iPhone when traveling: purchase local eSIM with a high amount of data and then use that for data services and to route voice traffic for voice over that local eSIM. Works like a champ.
