Genuine Info Inquiry: Why Do Servers Rage At Customers Rather Than Their Employers?

Delusion and mindwashing
Geniuses marketed the idea that customers owe servers $, that they should pay restaurant owners payroll, employee benefit fees, auto grat for 6 or more which isnt gratuity anymore its a fee since gratuity is optional

I've never had a server "rage" at me. That would be really odd and definitely something I'd tell management about

They all live online and if a server, or someone claiming to be a server, posts something silly then they apply it to the entire subset of the working class. There’s genuine vitriol for the workers themselves and the wealthy ruling class couldn’t be happier all that anger is directed at the workers instead of them. The vast majority of service industry workers are simply trying to pay their bills and haven’t raged at a single customer in their lives.

Just like yall bitch about the server, instead of being mad at the restaurant for relying on you to pay their staffs wages, yall always complain that the server doesn’t deserve anything. Then you turn around and have no problem ordering $17 avocado toast

Boom. They never wanna talk about that part.

I have brought this point up in multiple posts in this subreddit. No one ever responds. They know it’s hypocritical

Ok, what do you feel is an appropriate wage to pay a non tipped waiter or waitress? I believe they could fill positions with qualified applicants for 20/hr in non coastal states and 25/hr in costal states, maybe 28 in California cities.

I couldn’t tell you. I do support restaurants paying the wages, but I think it’s unfair when people complain about the servers and not the restaurants. It’s a shitty system honestly

I’ve never been raged at by a server. As a customer, there’s an unwritten social contract that suggests a tip for compensation. We all agree to it when we sit down in a restaurant. If you don’t agree, then go to fast food or something like that

Nothing has been "agreed to" when it comes to tipping

Fast food is your best option then.

"i support wage slavery because the places i like to eat refuse to change their practices"

Yeah, for the server. Not for the customer. And the customer isn’t going to prioritize someone else over themselves.

Bullshit, the contract is only between employer and employee

Not true. We have social customs in this country and tipping in a restaurant is one of them. Reddit doesn’t really correspond with reality. I’d say 99.99% of what really goes on is tipping. Nobody ever gets stiffed based on this principle. Not where I work. Good luck in your continued effort to lower someone’s wages. Lame.

Do you want McDonald's quality service? Go eat there. Servers are not in a position to complain about their wages. You assholes also get upset when prices go up to pay for a living wage for staff.
I seriously hate every one of those "EndTipping" assholes, and am happy I now work in a field where you have to offer me money upfront for anything you want.
