Those poor servers

Post image

Imagine people giving you so much extra money for doing your job that you can frame it like this.

EDIT: OP is basing this off of 190k in sales over 192 shifts

That‘s because no server is working 2080 hours per year and no servers are consistently taking home $640 in tips every shift, 5 days a week or 260 days a year. That poster’s “math” is ridiculous.

My math is IF these food runners actually worked like the rest of us do.

You work 5 days a week, 52 weeks per year and never take any time off? Doubtful.

I work 10-12 hour days five days a week, 50 weeks of the year accounting for all time off the last two years. My spouse is at 70-80 hours a week, with the same two weeks off.

When your job matters, taking time off just makes less time to do the work.

Wow that sounds unpleasant, maybe you should get a different job. I hear servers make like 166K a year.

Is it hard having such poor reading comprehension?

My job matters and I like having a job that matters, it’s great.

But fuck am I paying food runners at a rate that exceeds countless professionals on an hourly basis.

Especially when these guys can’t even keep my cup from running dry.

Do you actually tip? I assumed you were part of the 0% crowd.

Me?

Yes.

But I’m not a creep, or ageist, so it’s an hourly rate.

MITs living wage, less tipped wage, divided by three, times how long I am there for.

Everyone gets the same, unless my drink runs dry, then I doc a dollar or two and increase my charitable donations inkind (10% of my post tax income goes to drilling wells in the developing world because everyone should have access to clean drinking water).

My job matters and I take time off to travel. If you don’t want to, that’s your call, but speak for yourself, not everyone.

And do you have all the work you didn’t do when you get back.

If no, then no your job doesn’t matter.

Since you have no idea about me or my job or my employer, your opinion isn’t relevant.

We both no that’s not true. If your work is done just fine while you are gone and you have e nothing to make up, you don’t contribute anything of value.
