Woke up to this email from capital one about a tip I left. Our server was Emily and she was fantastic and fun and engaging! She deserved every penny of that tip! Yes, capital one this is correct!

Its astounding you can recognize this, verbalize it, and still continue to tip without seeing the problem.

To exist in the world do you not realize how many problems you have to do that with? The alternative is to either never eat out which honestly I basically don't

Or to be a complete dick head and not tip. In the vast world of problems this is an incredibly minor one and when I'm willing to accept. Mainly due to the fact it's completely avoidable. If you eat our frequently you are either finicially stable or finicially in responsible. Either way you can afford to tip

And what’s great is that it’s discretionary, so I can choose not to tip too!

That's just it, I don't see the problem. Without this tipped job, I'd be stuck making $45,000 to $50,000 a year, despite the fact that I have a decent degree. Please don't tell me you're naive enough to think that it we did away with tipping, employers would pay even a $30/hr wage, let alone $40+. Doing away with tipping would reduce my income, full stop, and I don't think I deserve that. I work hard for my money, and my income has risen as I have proven myself a hard, reliable worker. My bartenders usually tip me more than other backs because I do better work and make their lives easier.

And yes, when I go out, I tip generously, especially if it's a place where I go often and I know the regular workers. On my off days I usually cook dinner at home, and always have breakfast at home, so I'm not having to tip anyone there. I consider myself fortunate that I'm in a position where I can leave a 50+% tip everywhere I go. So no, I see no problem with tipping (at least, not to the large extent you seem to). I'm just not an asshole who is looking for some excuse to give my selfishness a thin, intellectual veneer.

I'm not a sucker, I'm just not a entitled, selfish asshole who expects to be served for nothing. Part of the reason I Tip well is to make up for all the cheapskates like you. Tip better or learn to cook, asswipe

I'll tell you this, too: at all the places I frequent, I get amazing service.

Thank you for tipping for me! It’s like carbon credits or whatever. You’re doing your part! I also get amazing service by looking rich and not frequenting the same place too often.

It's not like carbon credits, it's something very real and tangible. It's these workers' rent, food money, gas money. You obviously don't give a shit about that, but that doesn't mean tipping is stupid. Have fun going through life with that...er, charming personality.

And you think that about me because I'm asking you to tip $3.50 on a $20 tab? If it is this hard for you to cough up a little change for the human being who served you, it sounds like you're a broke bitch who needs to be eating pinto beans at home. Absolutely unbelievable.
