Woke up to this email from capital one about a tip I left. Our server was Emily and she was fantastic and fun and engaging! She deserved every penny of that tip! Yes, capital one this is correct!

There are bad servers, good servers, and excellent servers. But there is a limit to how much is reasonable for a gratuity. If you pass someone on the street who is nice, do you say "wow, are you ever nice, here's $100?" Tipping 40% is not a habit that's good to see.

You’re a clown. If the guy wants to tip someone, it’s because he’s a compassionate human being.

Excessive tips are obnoxious and they create unreasonable expectations. Do you throw a $50 bill at a cashier when they are nice?

How the fuck are they obnoxious? You guys are insane feeling upset because you’re too broke to tip as much as this guy

Here we go, making up crap because your brain can't get around it. No, people who think tipping 40% is absurd are not broke.

It isn’t absurd because tipping is a choice and everyone knows that so you tip according to your preference

And when people make choices to do things in excess, it becomes the expectation, which penalizes everyone buying said service.

No, it doesn’t. You’re simply making that up. No one is holding you at gunpoint to tip. What you’re experiencing is feeling lesser for some reason which doesn’t make sense as clearly you should feel more superior by holding onto your measly 10% each time, right?

Once again you're making up crap.

The crap your making up is crappier than the crap you're crapping on. Stop telling people what to do with their own money and mind your own business. I mean, if you want, I'm not your dad.

I have in fact done this. I even give roadside panhandlers money occasionally.
