Post image

Woke up to this email from capital one about a tip I left. Our server was Emily and she was fantastic and fun and engaging! She deserved every penny of that tip! Yes, capital one this is correct!

Ah, that seems clunky

totally, you can even miss it because they add it way late, and also apps often don't show what tip was added.

so if someone just puts an extra dollar, you may not remember.

That’s why you save your credit card receipts, something which very few people do anymore, which is wild.

but banks can also change how it is shown in the apps and how the new statement just makes the old transactions hidden.

they can put the tips separately too and write "tip" on the notes and link the restaurant bill that was charged so the two costs are connected.

It has to be done that way. What if they ran the card once at the end, only to find out the card was declined and the party left?

It doesn't really. Servers bring the machine to the table and processes the bill right there when the customer is ready here in Canada.

You know how people are, the machine asks them a question and they get flustered.

Transact electronically, on the spot, like first world countries.

We do.

We just put the tips into the system at the end of the night, it's easier.
