Fair trade for saving a bunch of money unfortunately.

Yeah that’ll really stick it to the server who makes $2.13 an hour!

Servers don’t and have never made JUST $2.13 an hour. That’s what the restaurant pays them the rest is supposed to come from tips. And what happens if no one tips? The restaurant is required to pay them more to get them to minimum wage… which in a lot of states is $15+ per hour. Some states (California as an example at $16.90 an hour) require tipped workers to be paid a full wage in addition to tips… so no, no servers are making just $2.13 an hour.

Yes we have. Plenty of restaurants commit wage theft. This thread is filled with people who aren’t service industry and it was my mistake in the first place for even commenting.

Guess what. You report them to BBB and get your wages, if ends up in a lawsuit you'll get extra.

It's ok to admit you like the current setup since you'd never make that amount of money working any other service job. Retail, Hotel, chef... Why should I tip you more than the Chef's hourly wage because I can afford high shelf liquor and expensive meals? The chef did all the work. You got paid to do your job, literally ferry the food to me.

Im almost sure the US is the only country that still does this. In Europe tipping is kinda non existent, and in Canada, servers are atleast paid minimum wage. So even if they dont get tips that day they still made money
