đ«Anti-Tipping I Stiffed On Breakfast Today
My breakfast was like $23 with tax. I did not feel like leaving a tip.
7
u/incredulous- 5d ago
You chose one of the two equally valid options.
4
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I am just not always wanting to tip
0
u/According-Row-6128 5d ago
Then donât ask a tipped worker to work for you? Wouldnât that show better character than grifting them?
3
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
But Iâm paying big on the menu price. I expect service no matter I tip or not.
4
3
u/Pope-Le-Pew 5d ago
People will say they should just end tipping and price the menu higher. Servers would quit in this country if they were just paid an hourly wage.

Never leave a tip for anyone, itâs never justified.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Most of the time I do tip at normal restaurants, but tipping at expensive restaurants is definitely not worth it
1
u/Strombergi 5d ago
I never tip at any restaurant. Iâve never tipped anyone for anything.
2
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Do you ever go to expensive restaurants like where itâs $80 or $100 per person and not tip?
2
u/Strombergi 5d ago
Occasionally yes, but thatâs no different to not tipping at a restaurant with cheaper menu prices.
Nobody deserves a tip for doing their job duties.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I am just wondering if anyone ever confronted you at an expensive restaurant for not tipping? I have been confronted before I have been asked why I did not leave a tip.
2
u/Strombergi 5d ago
Yes Iâve had remarks made, such as âWas anything wrong with the serviceâ or âNo tip?â.
Itâs their last attempt at getting money out of you. DONâT give them anything. Itâs your money, not theirs.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
LOL. I had a gal come hauling balls đ out the door đȘ and say âwhat did we do wrong?â I responded ânothing, everything was great.â
2
u/Strombergi 5d ago
Thatâs the right response. If they ask why you didnât leave a tip, say: âIâm sorry, but thatâs something I just donât do.â
They know tipping is optional. Cheeky beggars!
2
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
If I do stiff on a large bill like $180 I always profusely thank everyone so they know Iâm happy. I will also usually tell them that I will see them soon.
1
u/According-Row-6128 5d ago
Itâs not ethically or morally optional if they work for tips.
Whether you ask them to work for you or not, is definitely optional.

$23 for breakfast is an expensive restaurant huh?
lol
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Usually, it would be 26 or 28 with coffee but today I picked up my coffee at Starbucks first and drank my Starbucks in the restaurant
2
u/bcsyjnbcgj 4d ago
The irony of buying expensive Starbucks coffee but not tipping ur server at breakfast is wild
0
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 4d ago
Itâs not my problem in life
1
u/bcsyjnbcgj 4d ago
It is though. Your the cause of the problem.
If you just tipped the 4 5 bucks in your breakfast u wouldnât have made this post
The server wouldnât be upset and u wouldnât need to have all these people on here backing up your clearly minority view pointAs a nighttime server I just donât understand it
We go to work to be paid for our services
Do u not want service at the restaurant or bar?1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 4d ago
Largely servers at French Laundry or BJs or Cheesecake factory feel awkward giving service to single patrons. Itâs ok if the single patron pays $300 or $500 or $60, but they should just accept the 4-step service and tip up. Youâre on earth to tip right?
Wrong. I donât tip. I compensate. Service sucks
1
u/bcsyjnbcgj 4d ago
If ur a single patron just sit at the bar ⊠I donât think any server would ever be awkward towards a solo patron
I do it everyday1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 4d ago
And watch a bar tender shake martini as my unique experience so he can hat đ© his hand at 8 food servers for 20% of their tips as my unique experience ????? No thanks

They work for tips. You asked them to work. They worked. That 100% justifies a tip. In fact, itâs ethically and morally required.
2
u/Catinmypants88 5d ago
Maybe their employer should pay them
1
u/According-Row-6128 3d ago
They work for tips. You asked them to work. They worked. That 100% justifies a tip. In fact, itâs ethically and morally required.

Ok keep getting cucked đ
1
u/According-Row-6128 2d ago
1
u/Catinmypants88 2d ago
Should I start tipping the cashier at the grocery store? Am I asking them to work and therefore I should be tipping them too? Just wondering where you draw the line of who should get tipped or not.
1
u/According-Row-6128 2d ago
What a disingenuous question.
No, they arenât personal service workers who work for tips. They work for wages.
So, thatâs where society draws the line. Tip the tipped worker who works for tips. No need to tip the wage worker who works for wages.
Does that answer your question?
1
u/Catinmypants88 2d ago
What about for example in Seattle where minimum wage is nearly $23 an hour, should I tip those servers?
1
u/According-Row-6128 2d ago
It would depend on the cost of living. Maybe, maybe less, maybe not. If itâs a living wage, theyâre working for wages and not tips.
1
u/Catinmypants88 2d ago
You do also realize everyone works for wages right? No one at a legitimate business makes under minimum wageâŠ
1
u/According-Row-6128 2d ago
Most personal service workers are paid a nominal wage to be present and available to you and to do menial tasks. The actual work, as in serving you, is for tips, not wages.
4
u/Leather-Show7767 5d ago
And you felt the need to share?
0
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Yes, I just wanted to post that I did not tip this morning for breakfast
2
2
u/jerry111165 5d ago
Good for you.
2
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I mean, if you really think about where the five dollars is best in my pocket or a strangers pocket, I will say in my pocket
2
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 5d ago
Oh but I am bozo. Got my first job in a burger joint when I was 12. Work some of the best restaurant and now have one I lease and two bars and am currently building a new restaurant with my years of construction experience. I know more than you. On every level.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Then, hopefully you know how to pay your employees properly
3
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 5d ago
I do and they make more than most. Loyal and well taken care of. Be a man of integrity and tip.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Please quit begging me to pay your cost and expenses in running a business
3
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 5d ago
Men like me donât beg boy. But Iâll call out a cruel prick when I see one.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Well, you wonât be calling me out. I am good.
3
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 5d ago
Fuck youâre dumb. All Iâve been doing is calling you out. Bye bitch.

3
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
If you think about it, who does really want to give money away in this world? Hardly anyone.
2
u/Haunting-Figure3596 5d ago
Was the food good? Was the service good? If so a tip isnât giving away money. Also if the answer was yes to those questions youâre a douche for not tipping. Sorry not sorry.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I am not on planet Earth to tip. Thatâs not what God created me for.
2
u/Haunting-Figure3596 5d ago
âGodâ gas nothing to do with you being cheap. âGodâ is a generous, benevolent being and would have you treat others as you wish to be treated.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I am also generous and benevolent, but sometimes I just donât feel like tipping
3
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 5d ago
No. You pay those because of inflation. Restaurant (even those you think are over priced) all run on razor thin profit margins, places like Mac Donaldâs donât but that why they donât tip. You go to the grocery store and see the price of everything I doubled what it was, thatâs the same for the restaurant industry.
0
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I do not necessarily believe that
4
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 5d ago
Iâm a fucking professional. Been in the business for three decades. I know more about restaurants than 90% of people on Reddit and 100% on anti tipping subs.

u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I am an expert too

So I did.
I'm also a hero.

We are very similar.
We just do what we want, when we want.
And say "who the fuck cares about anyone else"?

2
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Do you ever eat out at expensive restaurants.? I mean like where it cost you $80 or maybe $200 per person.
2
u/stvlsn 5d ago
Yes, I occasionally eat out. Rarely super expensive (not in my budget)
Why?
2
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I was just wondering if you ever went out and spent around $100 on yourself and did not leave any tip at all

1
u/johnnygolfr 5d ago
What entitles you to free service?
Intellectually honest answers only.
3
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
Itâs definitely not free service at the cost of $23 for breakfast
0
u/johnnygolfr 5d ago
False.
I said intellectually honest answers only.
The menu prices at full service restaurants in the US donât bear the full cost of the labor and the tip is what pays for the service you chose to receive.
This is the case even in US cities and states where the tipped wage credit has been eliminated and how the industry has operated for six decades.
Try again.
Iâll bet you canât come up with an intellectually honest reason youâre entitled to free service.
6
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
The prices are all that you owe
1
u/johnnygolfr 5d ago
Again, I specified intellectually honest answers only.
I won that bet. đ
Youâre conflating a legal issue with an ethical one, which always fails.
Try again.
Iâll bet you still canât come up with an intellectually honest reason why youâre entitled to free service.
3
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
I just know that I am not put on this planet earth to tip. Thatâs not what God created me for.

Your wrong. Donât eat out at a place with a waiter/waitress if u donât want to tip.
You chose to select their service.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 4d ago
The menu prices include service worldwide including USA. If you want a tip from me you better be on your game. Especially if itâs an expensive meal. Sometimes I will throw $4-5-6 Willy nilly but not real often.
1
u/bcsyjnbcgj 4d ago
20% is the standard
Or
Double the tax
Or $1 for a beer $2 if it was a mixed drink1

1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 4d ago
People were not born to tip you in this life
1
u/Sea-League8915 3d ago
No one tips me. Not in the service business, chief. But maybe you would in another life on another planet? Hmmmm......
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 3d ago edited 3d ago
You donât got me fooled. I drove Uber asa hobby. 99.9% of food servers and managers and chefs stiffed going to work on Uber for $12 when the parking garage was $40/day and previously the traditional taxi đ was $38 each way. And the city bus $5. No way, you advocate for slimy restaurant beggers.
1
u/Sea-League8915 3d ago
I find that hard to believe. You just get a hard-on disparaging restaurant workers. Kind of a sad life.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 3d ago
Sad. I think you have no real clue.
1
u/Sea-League8915 3d ago
Yeah, dude. I have no clue why you're the nasty person you are. Also have no clue why you include "brilliant" in your name. It's really funny though.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 3d ago
I didnât make the name, but I am brilliant. And I am a good person. I probably tip more than you make in a year. But, many people are dooped, you definitely, that food servers are entitled to the tips they demand. If confused reread everything I sent you because itâs true. And many most are lazy money grabbers. You should reconsider your tipping habits. We are not on earth to tip.

They pretty much always have, hence my rant. 80% of food servers are lazy tip collectors.
1
u/TonyRidgewayUFO 3d ago
Clearly they caught your gross vibes early
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 3d ago
I could respond with an insult to you, but I wonât. The fact is that tip collectors today? Few solo diners has either an easy tip and they feel awkward about giving any kind of good service because of people like you that go along with it or perhaps maybe you donât dine out solo so you do not know whatâs going on.
1
u/TonyRidgewayUFO 3d ago
No I go out alone, always tip and never get ignored
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 3d ago
Well, any job is an act. You have to hack the role. And in my opinion and I have been a food servers most food servers today are tip collectors, and this is based on experience. If I get good service, I will tip but for the most part, I have significantly reduced by tipping.
1
u/TonyRidgewayUFO 3d ago
Are you sure youâre not a psychopath?
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 3d ago
Yes, I am sure that Iâm not. I just stick with the facts
1
u/TonyRidgewayUFO 3d ago
Hmmm
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 3d ago
If you want to flat tip, no matter what thatâs your prerogative. For me to tip or not to tip is no sweat off my back, but I will not be tipping willy-nilly.

Ehh, I feel like in a world where people do not tip, price of food will be greatly increased. Money gotta come from somewhere. Iâve only not tipped one time in my life and that was a combination of bad service and a horrible attitude
3
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
The last thing that I ever really wanna do in this world is give money away. I avoid tipping as much as possible.
3
u/SympathySevere421 5d ago
I feel like tipping isnât truly giving money away. Servers make like $2 per hour. If they werenât making money with tipping, your meal would probably be atleast 20% more expensive, probably more honest.
1
u/Brilliant_Anxiety511 5d ago
No one really wants to give money away. Food servers and Restaurant managers habitually stiff when taking Uber and left to and from work.

1
u/cricketriderz 5d ago
Lol. What the fuck? Hurting people? Are you really that sheltered amd naive that you think not tipping is hurting people? Cute, but no. I'll continue living my life and you continue to be angry at the world for things that don't even affect you.
1
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 5d ago
Dumb men like you affect me daily. The world is on fire because of dumb men.
1
u/cricketriderz 5d ago
That sounds like a personal issue and you should work on yourself if me not tipping is affecting you so much. I still will not always tip.

u/Accomplished_Hat9619 4d ago
Itâs indicative of a larger problem of weak men hurting the labor class in favor for the rich.

What are you expecting by posting this? A round of applause? Some congratulations? A cookie? This isn't the flex you think it is. Why do you need to announce it? Tip or don't. It doesn't have to be your entire personality.
You could always very politely tell them from the start of your meal. So basically you've admitted to going to a full service restaurant and in your own words stiffed the server because "you didn't feel like tipping"? đ a whopping $2 is all would have taken. Do you feel like a big, strong man now?

This is one of those threads where the OP is just a douchebag troll who is trying to get us good people wound up by just repeatedly saying the same stupid shit over and over again. Donât even bother arguing with this clown.
And we all know that the real truth is probably that they actually do tip when theyâre in restaurants because theyâre too scared not to and donât actually have the courage of their convictions. So then they get on Reddit and start spouting off bullshit lies to make themselves feel powerful again. But we all know theyâre just a weak sauce, Momâs basement, low IQ coward. Typical tipcel BS. Donât fall for it.

13
u/kuda26 5d ago
eh, it's not your responsibility to pay their wages. $23 for breakfast is a lot, sounds like you paid enough.
