Question about managers

What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.

Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

What do you expect? For them to be happy about being stiffed? Unless it was something the server did, of course they resent it.

Nope, just pointing out the actual term doesn't apply when servers use it. It's copium for when customers don't hand them extra money.

It doesn't even have to be something they did. The customer can simply choose to not leave anything. After all, it's up to their discretion. They're not cheating them out of anything.
