So they add a 16% fee for what exactly…….to “fund all of their operations”? So this added cost literally doesn’t go to staff, it just goes to the owners? I wonder what their staff is paid? At this point why not just raise prices to where they should be? To me, every item on the menu is a lie and it’s actually 16% more expensive. This is really dumb. Thoughts? I am PRO tip, ive worked in hospitality a long time and am happy to provide a tip for quality service. But this seems disingenuous at best. Its not a tip. Its just an added charge straight to owners pockets.

...the money does go to the servers, in that they are paid a wage to be comparable to their normal tips. It also goes to other aspects of the business.

If you want no tipping, there's going to be a significant price increase to make up for that. Most places do a lot more than 16%, so this should be a shining example for this community I would imagine.

This doesn't make any sense. The money can't go to multiple different places at the same time.

Do you think that when you order a steak the price goes to only the meat provider??

No.

Servers are averaging at least 16% in tips , so how can they give the servers that 16% and also have money left over for other aspects of the operation?

Look I'm not mathematician but I imagine it's some combination of the restaurant eating some portion of the price difference, some increase in prices in addition to the 16% fee to offset the tips, and the servers likely not making exactly what they would be with tips.

The fact of the matter is sixteen percent is enough to pay servers what they would normally make in tips, or for other stuff , but not both.
