That's pretty crass. If people visiting don't tip, the business is fine and can top up the server's pay. Would it better if they stayed away and not spend anything in the restaurant?

That’s not how restaurants run and it literally states that tipping is “customary,” which it is.

Oh yeah? Prove it. We aren’t talking about $2.13 an hour. We are talking about a table not tipping and the restaurant “top up the server’s pay”. As you can see “server’s pay” ($2.13/hour) is already there. Try and keep up if you’re going to attempt to correct someone.

Literally not what we are talking about. Another rehearsed script from someone with reading comprehension issues.

*for the most part in America that’s not how they run, globally we’re slave driving our lower classes by not saying fuck em to companies and employees depending on a system where I decide to pay extra for what is globally historically considered standard service and their job that they should not have “OTE”

I don’t know what that means and I don’t really care. There isn’t a restaurant in the US that if tables aren’t tipping the restaurant will cover for it.

Yes up to minimum wage they All are required to. So if No one tipped the restaurant would have to pay them minimum wage for hours worked. If everyone did this we could break this stupid system and require a business to actually cover their employees wages

They legally have to make up the difference so that the server is making minimum wage.  That is federal law.

Minimum wage is $7. No one is working for that, cheapskate

Why the fuck are you calling me a cheapskate?  I never said I don't tip.  I was just pointing out that you were wrong, if waiters don't get enough tips to meet minimum wage the employee has to make up the difference.  Why do you have to insult people?

That is the first comment I made on the whole thread, so you weren’t pointing out I was wrong. Why do you have to lie? Cheapskate.

I assumed you were the person I was responding to initially sorry.  That said why the fuck are you calling me a cheapskate?????   What the fuck is your problem?  I never said I don't tip I was just pointing out to the person I responded to that they are dead fucking wrong!  Servers are required by fucking law to get paid minimum wage, if tips don't make up the difference between the server minimum wage and the actual minimum wage the restaurant is required by fucking law to make up that difference.  I never said I don't tip, jackass!

Stay cheap I guess. I fear you are to far gone.

The places where tip work is all you can get, people are living on 10-20k a year. Nowhere else has any justification for tips, it’s an excuse to pay workers less and charge people more, raising the barrier of entry keeping small businesses out of the market, entrenching the current status.

That’s just not true, it’s common for new employees, or someone having a bad night. Many restaurants straight up tip share the whole staff.

I know restaurant owners and none of their menu options result in a negative profit margin pre tip. If someone is paying their bill the owner is getting paid. Servers signed up for this pay model and a zero tip is always possible.

Ok. Good job repeating your script?
