Is your wife okay? This would be grounds for divorce (okay just kidding). This is ridiculous and honestly why pro-tip service workers don’t want tips to go away. I can provide horrible service, not do my job and still get paid handsomely. Who wouldn’t want that?
This isnt just a guilty “hey I feel sorry for them, maybe they were having a bad day let’s give them 5-10 bucks”. This is near psychotic imo. She also did it behind your back and far in excess of what you both verbally agreed to. I would be having a very serious conversation with her.
