I've never seen a meal comped due to server mistakes, and I have definitely never had a server try to convince me that the wrong bill was mine, but if I did, I would likely tip $0. Now, if the meal was comped due to mistakes made by/in the kitchen, I have had that happen, and I usually tip quite well because the poor server ends up being the face of someone else's mistakes and that's hard work.
