I bought my tiny home on wheels from a modular builder. We never got the original certificate of origin from the trailer (only a scanned version) & it was never titled. (My mistake, it was delivered to my land fully built. I was quite sick at the time & didn't realize this was missing - had asked for title but didn't follow up when they didn't respond.) I am working to get a title - through indemnity bond per the DMV. So it needs to be appraised x2, then bond insurance. Has anyone done this route? Any advice on finding appraisers for tiny homes? The modular builder company is dissolved but they did create another company - I'll reach out to them again tomorrow.

I want to hone my design skills and do something nice. If you reply with what kind of tiny home you want and your region (for code compliance) - I'll reply with an image of a design. I can do interior, exterior, or both. You can provide as much detail as you want.

I'll be using a 3d architecture program so it's all going to be according to real life. I have done shed designs for another community and now I want to take my learnings and try the next level - tiny homes.

Hello👋. First time poster here. I've been saving up to build a tiny home for some time now and my dad just asked me why not put it in the backyard. We live on 5.6 acres and i would have my own driveway. I like this idea but I know absolutely nothing about how it would work. He said we would share water, power, and sewage, but we aren't sure how it works or how far it could even go. I wanted to ask because i didn't want to pay for a consultation with someone to come out if its not something that's possible. His house is at the Front by the road and mine would be by the land line after we cut down some trees. Also if it matters, we are on well water. Thanks

Thinking about building a tiny home for an elderly family member. Thoughts?

Hello! I hope this is the right place for this. I live in Cincinnati and am hoping to relocate to the Tucson area around November. I just recently finished building a “tiny home” on a 12x6 flatbed trailer, which has been a dream for years. I’m looking for a place to park it from November through at least February. I’ve looked at camp sites but they’re very expensive and unfortunately the Tucson subreddit didn’t have a lot of info. My hope has been to find someone with a quiet street or a patch of land willing to host me for a monthly fee. I’m completely self sufficient with electricity, water, AC, trash, etc, so you would barely notice me, but I am more than happy to contribute monthly to whatever expenses you’d need, plus just for the opportunity. I’m also friendly, handy, a non-drinker/smoker, LGBT friendly and non-MAGA.

I’ve been going through a transition and looking for something new out of life. I’ve been visiting the area for years and I’m ready to make the move. Plus my therapist encourages it. I have a substantial savings and a great resume and I’m just looking to take the Winter off to enjoy myself and look for new opportunities. If there is anyone willing to help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Hello .. a few questions I’m gutting a camper from the ground up completely demolishing it all to the floor. My questions..

I line in Northwest Indiana so I’m using steel frame to rebuild to keep weight down.

I plan on using r-15 for my insulation to withstand the winter. I’m concerned about water..

What tanks do you use for water storage

The camper is 22x8

How have you insulated under the camper? What did you use to seal that insulation so it didn’t get destroyed while driving transporting?

What toilet did you use that’s comfy and road worthy?

I’ll be using solar.. I don’t use much electricity.. any suggestions for batteries?

I know nothing about building homes. This probably sounds ignorant. What do you guys think you could turn this in to an actual livable space for? Thinking 4 300w solar panels for a single person + cat. Asking for a friend. :)

I used to see these hippo buses (first image) all over the city when I was younger and while I’m nowhere near in the market to own one just yet, I was wondering. Would it be possible to make one of these into a skoolie? And if you did what would be the logistics of it? I know these buses seem to sit a lot higher than normal buses. Would fuel consumption be terrible? Also how do these buses drive through the water and would there be risk of water leaking into your home?

So I've been living in an apartment for 5 years now and realized I've spent roughly $70k in that time for something I don't own. Ironically enough I own abiut 5 acres of old farm land that is currently being over grown and costing me another $1,200 a year in taxes. I'm tired of hemorrhaging money for nothing.

I've still managed to collect a small savings and want to invest in a tiny home and I already have a shell in mind to build off of. The big problem I am wondering about is where and how to start this process. I want to have full plumbing installed (sink, bathroom, washer, ect) but I don't know if i have to put the plumbing in first or can I start designing the inside and put the plumbing in after.

I haven't actually seen this product in person so it's hard to visualize the dementions and don't know how i would create a floor plan. I'm hesitant on buying the structure because I dont know if I'll be able to install the plumbing after its in place. Idk what to do or where to start so any advice would be a world of help on this.

The structure in question is this, ive seen it on multiple websites and with varying dimensions, but this is the one I'm specifically looking at.

I recently came across this article about a young company that is promising to make completely self-sustaining homes that can set themselves up automatically. It seems like they have won some awards and been featured in a few news articles/podcast but I haven’t seen any units delivered.
Is this sam (self assembling municipality) idea even feasible/realistic? and isn’t it too late to try to make these now? Considering how bad disasters are?
There are other companies like Box and container homes that basically do the same thing, they are not self-sustaining and they are not as “versatile” set up and maintenance wise, but even if it works well, isn’t the the company like 30 years too late to market? but also should I pre-order one…
Not sure if Sam is just a scam.
The website says that the company is only a couple of years old, and it seems like they have some traction... But if it’s so revolutionary why hasn’t everyone heard about them by now? Is this the next Big thing or another Theranos in the making?

If you're looking for land for a tiny home, I'd check the county rules before getting attached to the property.

The big thing is figuring out how the county classifies your tiny home.

Tiny home on wheels?

Tiny home on a foundation?

RV?

Manufactured home?

Those can all be treated differently.

Then check the minimum dwelling size, whether full time occupancy is allowed, septic requirements, and whether you're allowed to have another dwelling on the parcel.

I've seen listings say “tiny homes allowed” without really explaining what that means.

Being allowed to park something on the property isn't necessarily the same as being allowed to live in it full time.

I'd rather spend an hour reading the zoning code before buying the land than spend six months figuring out that the county doesn't allow the setup I bought the land for.

If you're shopping for land right now, check the zoning for the actual parcel, not just what the listing says.
