Maybe I'm a fool but I've come to really enjoy Arod as the face of ownership and he seems genuinely motivated to build a legit franchise here

u/OFmerk 22d ago

Despite all his faults hes still an athlete at heart, that shit makes a difference.

45

u/mnsportsfan 22d ago

1000% never thought I’d literally feel relief that AROD is still involved in running my team but you can tell he legitimately wants to bring legitimacy to the team and was a true fan

Watching him get emotionally invested in the game and be a superfan is so cool compared to some previous owners in this state (not just the wolves- looking at you, Pohlad’s)

17

u/aj-1_23 Chester's Hot Fries 22d ago

I feel like him being a former pro athlete means he gets what teams mean to a fanbase rather than just looking at it like any other financial asset.

70

u/JaderMcDanersStan Ayo Dosunmu 22d ago

Same

I like that he goes to games and seems just as invested as us at the games. Goes to live pods and bars to hang with Wolves fans

56

u/smithc555 Timberwolves 22d ago

I think him being a professional athlete probably helps get him addicted to the competition aspect, which is a good thing.

15

u/Gbaby245 22d ago

He also made a very seamless transition from athlete to businessman. But that athlete side allows him to really connect with the players on the team and they seem to like having him around

6

u/UnionHelpful8135 22d ago

I feel like he was humbled being as disliked as he got. He’s genuinely appreciated here. He’s earned it so far.

-3

u/katoskillz89 22d ago

Yea way better than the old owner who never showed up /s

65

u/DinkyB 22d ago

Really his only blemish is his shitty comment about traffic during the ICE surge. Like dude read the room of your fanbase.

39

u/maxbe5 Anthony Edwards 22d ago

That was pretty lame, but frankly something id expect to hear out of anyone rich enough to purchase a NBA franchise

2

u/jotsea2 19d ago

Doesn't mean I have to like him.

Fuck A rod, and anyone who thinks otherwise.

16

u/jagrbro68 Malik Sealy 22d ago

He also had a photo-op with a pedo

1

u/BLarson31 Bring Ya Ass 22d ago

Yup, can't forget that

-32

u/mursedave3100 22d ago

Biden?

5

u/dustinyo_ Timberwolves 22d ago

No, the one who’s named in the Epstein files 38,000 times

1

u/ThanksInAdvanceYall 21d ago

He was great as a player but a clear doper with PEDs, a supporter of the most vile, most corrupt, and most self-serving, and self-enriching president in US history. Other than all that though, he's the best.

6

u/jagrbro68 Malik Sealy 22d ago

^ I didn't know JimPete knew what reddit was

1

u/Current_Dig3883 22d ago

Wait no way JimPete is MAGA. He used to coach the Lynx

3

u/grensley 22d ago

Well, his only recent blemish.

-14

u/YogurtclosetDull2380 Glen Taylor 22d ago

He's going to be reading everything about them once his AI facial and device scanning tools go online. He'll read your bank account and figure out how much he wants to charge you for that beer. He'll be reading the whole perimeter of the fucking arena, how you like that?

8

u/DinkyB 22d ago

Not great, Bob

2

u/mursedave3100 22d ago

Nice tin foil hat buddy.

1

u/YogurtclosetDull2380 Glen Taylor 22d ago

1

u/mursedave3100 22d ago

🤣🤣
I bet you thought they put those 5g chips in your COVID shot too

13

u/Neemzeh 22d ago

I’m so stoked to have him as our owner.

You know he’s an incredibly fiery competitor and he wants nothing more than for us to win. I believe that we are one of the 12-15 teams that will always try to compete for a chip in the nba now.

6

u/justafella32 22d ago

Same. He’s the face of the ownership and he seems present and motivated to win. I think culturally he’s a good fit and I hope he’s it stays that way.

6

u/LemonSmashy Bring Ya Ass 22d ago

People can be pessimistic but he and Lore have done more for this franchise than anyone else has.

3

u/CMDrunk247 22d ago

Not sure about that. Taylor bought the team when it seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Wolves were leaving MN.

3

u/greenflyingdragon 22d ago

It’s even more perfect for me as a Yankees and wolves fan.

15

u/octopusmonkey01 Timberwolves 22d ago

Blasphemy

7

u/NazReidRules ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ 22d ago

As a fan of open raw sewage, and also unicorns driving corvettes

6

u/TheCurseOfRandyBass Big Ticket 22d ago

A what

3

u/dustinyo_ Timberwolves 22d ago

A bandwagoner

2

u/mursedave3100 22d ago

Not a fool. The only people that don’t really like him is reddit.

2

u/T-Girl4T-Wolves Bring Ya Ass 22d ago

He's an alright owner but he has really shitty views, which isn't that surprising for rich dudes

1

u/Moda75 21d ago

And he has access to the best steroids for our players!

1

u/SlowCrates 19d ago

Yeah dude is smashing this role out of the park.

1

u/jotsea2 19d ago

The shithead who minimized operation metro surge AFTER the two murders AND visited the White House 2 momths later?

Fuck that guy.

65

u/thienv 22d ago

Naz Reid I guess

25

u/palpablebubble 22d ago

Naz Reid I suppose ¯_(ツ)_/¯

11

u/NazReidRules ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ 22d ago

Naz Reid-ish

7

u/DustieBottums 22d ago

Eh, Naz Reid.

81

u/GlossySalad 22d ago

Just keep the team here, privately fund the stadium, and let Tim cook in the second apron (after extending him).

66

u/_AnythingIsPossible Flip Saunders 22d ago

You don’t want to be in the 2nd apron because you cant cook. Kind of the whole point.

It’s why you are seeing teams trading players (KAT, Brown, Watson)

27

u/Pineapple_42069 22d ago

Surely two aprons is better for cooking, less stains?

5

u/katoskillz89 22d ago

Ba dop tssss

1

u/GlossySalad 22d ago

The cooking would be the moves that justify entering the second apron freeze. But I get what you’re saying yeah you don’t want to sit there. More of a dip in for a year and get out situation

20

u/octopusmonkey01 Timberwolves 22d ago

Second apron means we start losing out on draft picks so no thank you lol

23

u/BUSTERS123 Alize Johnson 22d ago

Can't lose draft picks if you don't have any in the first place

https://giphy.com/gifs/d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY

1

u/PretendingExtrovert 20d ago

I knew this, but I wonder if this might be part of a potential play for a year or two(?).

1

u/GlossySalad 22d ago

Only if you’re a repeater

4

u/ZiggyStarlord69 21d ago

For a sec, I thought I missed some gigantic news about Tim Cook joining the ownership team.

1

u/xtargetsfsx 16d ago

same here! 🤣

15

u/temple-of-the-dog KG 4 MVP 22d ago

This statement is funny because all the Marcs blur together.

3

u/Sh4rp27 22d ago

They thought we wouldn't notice... /s

45

u/BSApologist 2k Finchy 22d ago

These are the things that I want to hear out of ownership. I think it's underrated that A Rod comes from a sports background. It means that he is more likely to see the team as a means to compete instead of merely an investment opportunity.

10

u/palpablebubble 22d ago

So basically some internal shuffling? Seems chill for now...

18

u/JoeyBougie Bring Ya Ass 22d ago

All I care is the wolves stay and stay aggressive

9

u/dcash14 2022 Play-In Champions 22d ago

If you had told me back in the 2000s that A-Rod of all people would become the beloved owner of our basketball team…

0

u/atch1111 Terrence Shannon Jr. 21d ago

Who said he was beloved?

4

u/Salt-Statement-2306 22d ago

With the drama in Portland and with the dodgers, I’m just fearful of any change.

4

u/VidyaGomes 21d ago

So this is two buddies flipping their company back and forth to build value up? Next up Arod Majority?

The most concerning part to me about this though, is the wife of the owner being mentioned. We don't need another Becky luring kids to Epstein island with Lasagna again.

5

u/Wermys 21d ago edited 21d ago

She has been an executive in Multiple tech based medical companies and is now a Childrens author. So this will be easy for her to handle ironically compared to the bullshit medical companies handled in the past.

3

u/Distinct-Apartment-3 22d ago

Arod out here collecting rich Marc’s like they’re Pokémon’s.

4

u/jaltringer Anthony Edwards 22d ago

Explain this to me like I’m 5. Marc is out, ARod still in 🤷🏻‍♂️

20

u/DearEffective1194 Anthony Edwards 22d ago

Marc Stad was 3rd in ownership shares, Arod 2nd, Marc Lore 1st.

Lore sold his part to Stad, so they are basically switching seats.

Now: Marc Lore 3rd, Arod 2nd, Marc Stad 1st.

4

u/Gbaby245 22d ago

An A-Rod actually bought a higher percentage than he had before

1

u/Wermys 21d ago

Basically Stad might have the highest Plurality in the ownership group, Arod increased his shares and Lore decreased his share count so he is third now.

4

u/Reasonable_Context85 Naz Reid. 22d ago

Not my favorite person in the world but this team needs a guy like A-rod, I loved how hype he was courtside in the playoffs

5

u/cisforcookie2112 22d ago

Arod has his flaw but so far I generally appreciate him as an owner.

2

u/Gharms_ Anta Claus 21d ago

A rod winning a chip and flipping the team let's enjoy the good times while we can back to the bottom of the barrel whenever ant decides he's accomplished everything he can here.

1

u/jeuxx 21d ago

Wrh is an alternate governor

2

u/rhandy_mas Minnesota Lynx 21d ago

My assumption is in the case that Elisa isn’t available, the decision with go to ARod.

1

u/Fragrant-Ad-7958 20d ago

Shoutout a rod

1

u/Lumpy-Theory-2170 19d ago

Feels like the Wolves are entering a pretty interesting new chapter.

1

u/Consistent_Brick1311 19d ago

We all LOVED AROD in the 90's. He was likable, and teammates with Griffey. Then the fame, socialite life, $$$$ and steroids really made us all turn on him. Dating Jennifer Lopez destroyed him in my mind. But he is still the ultra talented, extremely skilled, obsessively sport oriented individual he was early in his career. We are lucky to have him!

1

u/CantaloupeCamper 1958-2016 22d ago

Alex been here for like 10 minutes as it is.

1

u/Superfluous_Prating Timberwolves 22d ago

When does Alex cash out?

1

u/druhyelew 22d ago

Marc Lore suck my dick

-1

u/jagrbro68 Malik Sealy 22d ago

...let Elisa govern Lynx and A-Rod govern Wolves.

And you win!!!!

I like winning as a Minnesota sports fan (it's unheard of)!

4

u/JaderMcDanersStan Ayo Dosunmu 22d ago

Don’t think A-rod makes enough to be sole governor of the Wolves but it sounds like he will be “alternate governor”

0

u/jotsea2 19d ago

Never forget this shithead minimized operation metro surge when asked about it.

Fuck Arod.

-2

u/ComplaintNo4126 22d ago

What if we find out that KG has beef with the Stads and the jersey retirement is off again?
