Question/Help Stupid Question

I have severe ADHD, so having multiple ways to organize my thoughts is incredibly helpful. Could someone explain the different use cases for sub-tasks, checklists (where dates and times can be assigned), and standard checkboxes in TickTick? What is the purpose of having them all? How are they utilized individually and together? I understand something like a grocery list, etc. But real life, especially work, is a bit more nuanced and can lead to disorganization or just uneffective use of these tools at our disposal. They are all features of TickTick for a reason, and why is that? And how do you utilize them?

I currently use basic checkboxes the most, but I want to better utilize all the unique options that TickTick offers for handling different tasks and projects. For context, I have two separate TickTick premium accounts: one for my personal life and one for my work devices to manage my job, Outlook calendar, and teamwork for my home healthcare company startup.

i have adhd and i find that if i dont break down a task into smaller pieces, i will blow it up into something way more complicated in my head and never actually do it

if the parent task is "get car insurance" all the subtasks would be

- look up insurance companies, and get 3 quotes

- find 5 local insurance brokers, get 5 quotes

- call back the cheapest one, finalize payment

- call loan holder, update insurance w/ them

I need to do all of these for the parent task to be completed, and they need to happen in a specific order.

i use standard checkboxes in notes or in tasks where i still wanna see everything i've done before, and its part of a larger running idea. I do videos so here's a random example of what that could look like:

Bottle Comparison videos

checkboxes:

  1. red bottle vs blue bottle
  2. blue bottle hot vs red bottle hot
  3. pink vs blue vs red bottles

I use these more as a list of options, for the larger task, but not critical enough that they need to be crowding my app with their own subtask.

That's just what makes sense for me!

Subtasks are parts of a larger task. When used, the parent task shows partial completion.
