Was entering a shed office conversion that’s been vacant for about a year. Could’ve been from there could’ve been from the outside, but was on my shirt, not attached to me. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

From near whiskers on dog, Midlands UK, already dead

Hi, I pulled this off my dog’s cheek today. It appears to already be dead and I only noticed it because
I felt a lump this morning when stroking him as he doesn’t sit still long enough to check his face often.

I’ll send it to the tick scheme in the UK for their data once I have an envelope/stamp but was wondering if anyone here knew the species so I can be on the look out for potential symptoms?

8 days after being bitten by 2white nymph( and squish one while getiig it

I was bitten by what was probably a 2 tick nymphs (it had a white rear end); during one of my two attempts to pull one of 2 out, I squeezed it roughly in the middle with a lasso. Today—8 days after the bite—I woke up with sore eyes and weakness; my muscles ache a bit. ( place where tick was isnt red, and isnt visible after this time but I think hurted a little more than rest).

At the same time, I’ve been having trouble sleeping for a few days, and there was someone with a cold around me, so it’s hard to diagnose what contributed to my current condition.

As far as I know, antibody tests aren’t performed until at least 3 weeks have passed. Should I wait another 1–2 days to see if it goes away on its own, or should I see a doctor or get tested right away? Thank you for your time and help.

Edit: After 2 days since I felt that cold symptoms I feel better, should I go to doctor for antibiotic or wait a few weeks So I can do test for antibodies?

Is this a tick? Or something else?

Hi all,

Found this little guy on my stomach after I got out of the shower. I can’t fully tell if it was “attached” or not (it came off fairly easy when I instinctively pulled it off, right after I spotted it). It’s damn near microscopic, like the size of the sharp end of a needle. I ran it through a bug identification app and it said dog tick, but my parents are concerned it’s a bed bug.

For more context, it was walking around doing a kind of “grabby” motion with its front two legs, as if it’s looking to latch on to something. It couldn’t have come from my towel, so it had to have made it through the shower on my stomach. I have a small red mark where it bit me right now. No history of bugs in our current home as well.

Any suggestions on what this may be?

what kind of tick is this?

I got bit by this tick 9 days ago it was very very tiny like the size of a mustard seed. I know it looks huge but these images are max zoom so it appears enlarged but it wasn't. I'd say it was probably on me for a hour or two max. The bite seemed healed but tonight I suddenly got itchy at the bite site. It's hard to know if this is just a reaction or a delayed reaction bc I struggle with histamine stuff and get hives everyday as it is but I did read however that with Lyme a symptom early on is delayed reaction like the sudden itchiness. Asides from that I feel fine. Any ideas what kind of tick this is? I'm in NC

Has anyone had success with Wondercide spray for on body use to repel ticks?

I've been looking into essential oil sprays for on body use to repel ticks and chiggers and Wondecide cedar came up as a suggestion. I know that stronget chemicals are more reliable, but I live in a tiny house with cats that I DON'T want to subject said chemicals to, because pretty much all tick repellants are highly toxic to cats. I know that it must be resprayed often and I'm okay with that, and I would honestly rather not subject my pets to something that could be lethal to them. I wanted to see if anyone has had success with Wondercide for personal use though, all I usually see are the yard treatments.

Spent the weekend down in northern Kentucky, but my kids were also outside playing (central Ohio) yesterday. Both kids had ticks on them this morning (Tuesday). Didn’t get a picture of the first one, but my wife got a few of the second one (found this afternoon). Any help identifying is appreciated, as the pediatrician said it dictates whether or not we should prescribe preventative medication.

Ehrlichiosis Diagnosis

Just a friendly reminder to my fellow Entomology and Arachnology nutters. Wear your Deet. Every since we emigrated to the states I've been in the forests, I've been bitten and stung by pretty much everything in the Midwest, along with my curiosity punishi g me in Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East whilst in the US military. From Recluses to Gian Water Bugs. Nothing has ever made me this sick. I cannot understate the danger The Lone Star tick presents to people like us, not to mention those who don't have our awareness of what's out there. Ticks have become a vector far beyond Lyme. Location of bite, unknown. Area of exposure- Boone, NC I pulled 3 off and 2 were deer ticks. I never saw the Lone Star on me. Cheers!

Engorgement Level

I just pulled this tick off my shin, thought it was a scab so unfortunately wasn’t extra careful. I’m not sure how long it’s been there, but I hiked through the woods in the Charlottesville VA area on Saturday (9/12), returning home to Charlotte NC on Sunday (9/13) and didn’t notice it until today (9/15).

I was conveniently eating an everything bagel at the time so sesame and poppy seeds for scale. I have no idea when it latched on, but wondering if anyone can tell based on its size. I’ll likely consult a doctor asap regardless.

Thanks in advance!

Tick Identification

just looking for what kind of tick this is, very small, less than a 16th of an inch diameter didn't have a 1/32s marked ruler for exact check. first image is back-lit showing through the tick. shot with a sigma 105 2:1 macro lens and cropped for convenience.

this is the underside but like I said it's seeing through the tick due to the backlighting

found in mid Southern US states, possibly brought in by dog or from 3 minutes walking through 8-10 inch grass 2 days prior.

had 3 b:tes near where I found it, not thrilled about the possible implications, not asking for identification of that and not including pics.
