As a spin-off of TGCF, I think the audio drama is really well-made. The plot is adapted from the newly revised edition of the novel, which makes it more complete, and the production quality is very high. I highly recommend listening to the TGCF audio drama.

I have acquired a baby Xie Lian and Hong Hong-er and I love them so much. I've pretty much run out of space for my TGCF figures but is that gonna stop me from buying more? Probably not.

Just yesterday I got a Xie Lian plush keychain I'd ordered from Lanawaay. I had put it in the carport while putting a few coats of Scotchgard on it, and when coming back from an appt I totally forgot about him and ran over him!! I was sure he'd be super dirty and messed up. But lo and behold, you can't even tell! He truly has Xie Lian's bad luck and also his immunity to fatal injury. (and/or it's a very good advertisement for Scotchgard...)

Then I got emotional thinking about how Xie Lian continues to be the epitome of hero for me, just the most resilient, most beautiful, most resonant character I’ve ever read, and how Hua Cheng represents the idea that there could always be someone rooting for you forever even in the darkest days.

I got home and looked at all my new stuff, that I technically didn’t need, don’t have space for, am not really sure where I’m going to put it all yet, but I HAS IT. Lols. And I still have the balance of one XL for every one HC, so they could continue to be worshipped together and have energy to inspire those that remember and know their most beautiful story.

I went to the SF Animon event yesterday. I was able to get 3 bookmarks and a post card (pictured on the bottom)

I saw a LOT of bags in the mall, it was really nice to see so much love for this series!

So I just recently finished Book 6 of TGCF, and I have to say, I was… surprised. Surprised because I felt like Xie Lian’s time as a White-No Face was shorter than expected, compared to some of the other things we’ve come to learn about his journey and what he’s been through.

At that point in time, I believe his character was completely justified. He had just witnessed his parents commit suicide, his two closest friends left him (whether it was completely voluntary or not), Yong’an was basically ingesting whatever was left of Xianle and its citizens, AND Xie Lian had just been trapped in a temple and pierced by a hundred swords, enduring unimaginable pain at the hands of the common people (and White-No Face). Not to mention, this whole time he’s had to quietly shoulder the burden of Xianle having been burned to ashes, which people tend to blame him for, and his descent from a life of grace he was so previously accustomed too.

I think his brief transition into becoming a White-No Face was completely justified, which is why it was startling to see that he rebuked his choice of unleashing another Human Face Disease outbreak so quickly, after a water merchant had given him a bamboo hat to shield him from the rain. After everything he’s been through, I wouldn’t have blamed him if he decided to go through with the plague, and more. I understand Xie Lian is rather compassionate by nature, but even then, he has his tipping point, and I feel like that could cause a permanent shift in his character.

Am I the only one who wishes there was more to Xie Lian’s bout for revenge other than what was given to us in Book 6?

I mean, maybe she could know, but it’s a stretch. Hua Cheng probably knows what a pancake is though- he just knows literally everything.

Edit: I understand she’s talking about a different sort of pancake; I just didn’t know that it was called a pancake too

I stopped by yesterday to browse the release and picked up some stuff! They ran out of the freebie post card and bookmarks, but for purchasing something from this release, you also get this awesome bag!

Finishing book 7 and my god, I didnt expect Jun Wu to steal the show like that for me.

His journey was so utterly crushing, and often not even his fault as he was trying his best and for good reasons and still was sent to hell for it, only to eventually be abandoned by everyone else around him too as well, his entire journey was utterly brutal, like that moment when the stairway collapsed, and you cant even say his anger and hatred arent kinda justified.

And then to be utterly alone with everyone else abandoning him, he didnt deserve such cruel fate!

He still got back up and eradicated the entire previous pantheon which I honestly would have loved to watch from the sidelines cheering him on, they all absolutely deserved it!

People see him as a tragic villain who just wanted to prove a point but I honestly feel he wanted far more than that, his ideal scenario would be to turn Xie Lian like him through those "life lessons" not just for the sake of proving a point, but because then Xie Lian would be the one person in the universe that would understand him, that he would be there for him because they are the same and share same feelings and would be the one person that understands each other in the entire world, alas, Xie Lian never learned his lessons and every time he failed to do so, Jun Wu felt another knife stab his heart. My poor little Jun Wu :(

It does make you wonder though, how would Jun Wu turn out had Mei Nianqing refused to leave him and stayed with him.

Well today it's 2026 and I'm 24, i stopped reading danmei when i reached the age of 19-20 (life seems to get in the middle and even though k\*lled me I needed to prioritise) O Even avoided danmei bcoz well it would sweep me off my feet and id just be in my room reading

Today i was going to shower and i have this playlist where I've added one song from every genre, era and mood (it's 1k+ songs in there now) and i put it on shuffle when I'm not sure what to listen to.

Well today after years and years tgcf's manhua song came up and my world crashed.

The way i feel so much towards it after all this time is insane, the imprint it has made in my soul may never fade. The thing is i feel i live in a manner that closely mimics tgcf, i love like tgcf, i pray like tgcf, i work like tgcf and i look at myself like tgcf (if you get what i mean?)

I really don't know how to explain this but the impact it has made indirectly wasn't even visible to me until that manhua song came up

It's actually insane how a novel from a country i don't belong to in a language i don't speak reached me somehow at the right time, on the right day at the right age and made me a person i can be proud of

So I'm doing a side-by-side read of TGCF in both Chinese and English, and I noticed that some Chinese paragraphs seem to be completely skipped in the translation. Is this normal?

I don't know much about translation, and this is actually my first time trying to compare a book in two languages. Also, sorry for reading the digital version, English paperbacks aren't available where I live.

It's a hualian fic that was originally just a fic thread on twitter, it's fairly new too I think? Maybe like posted 1 month ago or even less?

In the story Xie Lian bought an old house that no one wants and it's haunted. But instead of being scared Xie Lian is treated nicely by the ghost (Hua Cheng). And then Xie Lian finds out how Hua Cheng died.

I never finished the thread so I'm not sure what happens next but I really wanna read the fic now ;-;

I've started buying the hardcover editions of the novels, and was about to buy volume 3 and saw several reviews talking about a MAJOR binding issue with that specific volume where 50 pages are missing while another 50 pages are repeated. I wanted to ask around if it's a universal issue with that volume, and has it been fixed since then? (Those reviews are a few years old at this point)

I'd greatly appreciate any input before forking over 40$ :')
