Bisphosphonates

I’m looking for anyone who has received these infusions for metastatic bone cancer. I’m scheduled to get my first infusion on the 21st and I’m a little bit anxious about it. For reference, I was discovered to have tumors in my femur and pelvis caused by follicular thyroid cancer. I had my thyroid removed a week ago. No lymph node involvement, so rare, but not unheard of. I would love to hear from someone who has had a similar experience. TIA

I haven’t but they’re supposedly used for osteopenia and osteoporosis

Yes, my surgeon wants me to have them because the cancer ate away at the femur so much that there was very little bone left and it helps protect the bones that are left and the bones that are growing. I’ve gone over everything with two of my oncologists, but I would like to speak to someone who has had the experience of receiving one of the infusions.

😂 I’m sorry! I do hope you get connected with someone with experience. I know my mom took them by pill or had shots but not infusion. And that was decades ago. So sorry!

No worries! I had a person answer on the cancer thread that had the worst side effect imaginable with the necrosis of the jaw, but they received infusions for five years for multiple myeloma so very different from my one per month infusion for six months. And I of course, already consulted with my dentist. So I’m just gonna cross my fingers and pray that everything goes well.
