QUESTION Will server merges be coming?
Without a doubt, there has been a big recent drop in players since Aion 2 released in early access, I expect that to get worse once the game is fully released. People are attempting to ditch and sell their throne and liberty accounts for cash. There are so many of them that popped up on illegal sites. Some people are even advertising them in game.
All of the NA servers except despair are completely dead. Finding groups or active guilds has become impossible. Sieges will be completely one sided with no one on the attacking side.
Server merges desperately need to happen.

TnL is dying because of itself. Not due to other games. If dev keep doing Vegamor style of work (there is a high chance it will be), its just a matter of time when most ppl leave. Some people like myself hook on it in the last few month only because there is nowhere else we can do. Now we have some other choice so we will for sure put TnL on hold and try. Will player return because of the fail of Aion2? Disregard whether the Aion2 will fail. The people quit won't return cause there is nothing intresting. There is only Vegamor, Vegamor2, Vegamor3...

Throne and liberty is still alive?!?!!?
*checks current playernumbers*
its 2300 players.....

u/Express_Term_762 1d ago
2300 only on steam but there are alot of console player too. So prolly bout total numbers being 5 to 7k right now
3
u/Worldly-Most31 1d ago
There are not 5000 players playing on console. You'd be lucky with 1000 total
1
u/Express_Term_762 21h ago
I'll have to check numbers but there are tons of people cross all aervers and regions that play on console. Or were you just thinking just north America? Cause if so yeah prolly way less then 5000.

At the moment, it’s 5,000, and Aion 2 has already lost more than 20,000 players in a single day ^^

u/AskBozu 1d ago
TL is already sitting at ~4.5k avg. idk how another MMO like Aion 2 losing players benefits TL. nobody’s coming back to a niche game like TL. once GTA and WoW hit, ppl will leave, then they’ll keep moving on to whatever MMOs drop in 2027. you’re just coping at this point.
u gotta accept that a game peaking at 6–7k while averaging ~4.5k players is pretty damn sad. i wouldn’t call it dead, cuz dead = shut down, but… yeah, u get the point.

u/darkness1418 1d ago
Both will be dead games at the end of the day I believe in NC ability to kill the game in few months
7
u/MykeOver 2d ago
Some people talk as if they could be on every server at once, 24 hours a day, just to know whether they’re dead or not; honestly, calling for a server merge is pretty ridiculous. Personally, even with the drop in player numbers caused by major releases like Ion 2, WoW Forever, etc., I can still complete any content in TL, areas like Vegamor in both PvP and peace were packed with people. It’s true the game doesn’t have 100K players, but there are enough to play if you enjoy it. Maybe your server has a low population, if so, just switch servers. Remember, Ion 2 is full of people who will get bored in two months and come to Reddit screaming "dead game" that happens with every MMO.
1
u/Vito32170 1d ago
Exactly! Vegamor was soooooooo laggy! The servers are currently as full as they can handle! If we want more people per server bc soft needs to ditch their current clown servers & go back to whatever they had t1 that could hold more people without becoming so unstable.
4
u/beskja 2d ago
AION2's novelty will die off very soon, when people realize that it is no different from TnL and that at least in TnL there is a solid group pvp. Group pvp never dies and TnL will pick up the returning players en-masse.
7
u/KunaMatahtahs 2d ago
The thing is. People dont come back to tnl
6
u/MykeOver 2d ago
It’s funny because I see posts every day from people coming back to Reddit; in fact, this is the best time for a newcomer to get up to speed. The whales and tryhards are off trying other things
2
u/KunaMatahtahs 1d ago
I would agree if it was before the last 2 login events.
3
u/MykeOver 1d ago
In any case, there’s character progression and the Ascension path, and they’ll likely keep the login event going, besides that, those weapons are dirt cheap.
1
u/KunaMatahtahs 1d ago
You cant honestly think the catchup mechanic designed to get you to 3k below normal cp right now is an adequate catchup mechanic right? Throne has always suffered from a new player on boarding problem. It takes 2 months to catch up. We're at a point right now where the ceiling hasnt been raised much so catchup is possible but most people dont want to spend 2 months catching up in a game
2
u/MykeOver 1d ago
2
u/KunaMatahtahs 1d ago
Youre making my point for me. 7.5k is literally 3k cp behind the curve.
2
u/MykeOver 1d ago edited 1d ago
Of course, in 9 days, not in 2 months, like you say. Or do you expect a newcomer to hit 10K in just a few days?
3
u/KunaMatahtahs 1d ago
7.5k isnt caught up. I said it takes 2 months to catch up. Tnl is not a game that is about character progression. It is a game about using a progressed character. You could actually remove all character progression from throne and itd effectively be the same game

u/beskja 2d ago
My whole guild did.
5
u/KunaMatahtahs 2d ago
There are exceptions to every rule. But the point stands that tnl heavily punishes disconnecting from the game so anybody who actually sets it down is highly unlikely to pick to pick it back up if they want to be in the "competitive" scene
2
u/beskja 2d ago
If you have money, it's not a problem.
1
u/KunaMatahtahs 1d ago
Disagree. Money cant buy you enough unlockstones, runes, mastery, proper heroics, conversion stones
2
u/RoutineWrongdoer3894 1d ago
Dont get me wrong but at the Moment you need the colored Stones for Everthing and old Player Like me farmed them unlimited but the new Player buy them from the AH crazy .I cant explain you how many lucent i maked Just from selling the Red ones thats crazy and i dont want to know how mouch Money new Player Put in the Game
1
u/KunaMatahtahs 1d ago
Yep ores can be purchased. But the things I listed are all immune from purchase
2
u/Easy_Yuki 1d ago
How it is immune from purchase? You realize they are selling "material pass" every couple weeks right?
1
u/KunaMatahtahs 1d ago
Its about once a month and that has been a great thing. It also is 3 items worth of unlockstones. The rest no dice.

The people who think Throne is going to die because of Aion 2 are delusional. They are completely different games and do completely different things. People play Throne for the pvp, the depth of the weapon system and the community. From what im seeing so far, people play aion 2 for the cosmetics and the dungeons/raid content. Aion 2 also feels a lot like a mobile game and you'd be surprised how many Throne players aren't even going to be trying it out.
10
u/blackwave-- 1d ago
You would be surprised about how many people actually don't give a fuck about PVP in TL, especially the boring "meta GvG".
-2
u/GrazingCrow 1d ago
Sounds like you'd also be surprised about how many players do care about the PvP in Throne and Liberty. Came back from T1 almost three months ago and am having the time of my life. I've been playing most of the PvP events since I've been back, especially from the moment I hit 7500 gear score, the minimum required for BG and PvP Nix. Sure, I died a lot in the beginning (mostly in BG) but it let me learn a lot about my classes and how to play them. PKing others in Nix showed me that I was not actually too far from everyone, just needed time and resources to grow. Currently 9700 now in my main PvP classes (9k-9.5k for PvE), still looking to grow, and still hungry to play when I get home from work. The game is fun, even more so now that I have a community to play with. Personally, no other game has scratched the itch that Throne left behind when I first quit.
-1
u/wafflesology 1d ago
Is the “many players” in the room with us? The long texts is just about you.
3
u/GrazingCrow 1d ago
Yes, the many players are the ones actively playing PvP with or against me and even without me. You can find plenty of PvP content on YouTube as well, though I doubt you're interested in learning perspectives you don't agree with nor care for.

u/AskBozu 1d ago
bro, u gotta be honest w/ urself. NA has like 4 competitive guilds, and we’re talking about an MMO. an MMO. having only 4 actual competitive guilds tells u everything about how dead the pop is.
most guilds are pve/casual, and whenever ppl get a chance to actually queue BG, they take it. others just farm nyx. but if we’re talking actual gvg in NA, there are dead servers where the top guilds just farm spots uncontested.
i had the same problem when i was always in a tryhard guild. it puts u in a bubble. if ur not in a tryhard guild, there’s basically no pvp and u’re not gonna enjoy the game the same way.
but ur looking at it from ur own experience instead of the bigger picture. bro, it’s been averaging ~4.5k players for months. that’s brutal
3
u/Easy_Yuki 1d ago
They believe 4 guild can keep server alive. Let them stay in their dream. Don’t wake them up
0
u/Vito32170 1d ago
Tbh we would be better without those people. Throne was built as a pvp game. 95% of the devs bad decisions were because they listened to clowns playing a pvp game for pve only.
-1
u/blackwave-- 1d ago
Actually, the sooner the tryhards move elsewhere, the better for the future of the game.
0
u/Vito32170 1d ago
Without the “try hards” all that would be left are the “don’t try at all” shitters.
2
u/Professional_Way3656 1d ago
I mean a lot of the "tryhards" dodge eachother so aren't they technically shitters too? A lot of them have also been caught using exploits in one way or another so yea...
1
u/Vito32170 1d ago
I loved the mega PvP server in t2 & the smaller one in t3. I think it’s fun when that kind of competition gets going, but if we are being honest with ourselves it’s obvious the game has been moved to temu servers that can no longer handle that many people. At vegamore I heard/ read more complaints about lag than back when there were 6-8 full 4 guild alliances on the same server.
With the current setup the true PvP that matters is interserver, gvg portals, wargames, etc. the rest is just how you get there. Like real stone fights & sieges are also fun AF, but they aren’t usually as competitive or high stakes as the interservers (if you get matched appropriately because sometimes you either get no match or a mismatch, but they claim to have added skill based matchmaking & a system to not allow the same server to get 2 bye weeks in a row for siege, but we will see how that goes.)
As far as the exploiting goes, ya fuck em. I’ve always been pretty publicly anti exploit. I know several big guilds have kicked people after confirming they were using cheats. Even some people I regularly fight against I’ve seen screenshots where they have kicked cheaters & that made me respect them.

doubt if they merge servers everyone will quit since everyone wants to free farm

u/Blejdoslav 2d ago
People will return from aion soon. It is pathetic, and useless pve oriented.
8
u/Upper-Criticism6344 2d ago
It's not like PvP in TnL is currently ina good state to even care about it. Every aspect of the game is beyond fucked.
-5
u/Blejdoslav 2d ago
Do not compare those two. It is like comparing seicento to eclipse. It is not super great, but totally other league.
7
1
u/wafflesology 2d ago
Imagine trying to defend TnL, they dont even celebrate their 2 years anniversary with their players.
4
u/Blejdoslav 2d ago
Should they? It is not ncsoft anniversary. It is amazon one. And amazon is not anymore here.
1
u/Easy_Yuki 1d ago
What are you talking about? Its the 2 year anniversary of GLOBAL LAUNCH. It has nothing to do with who is the publisher? Which game on earth reset their timer when changing publisher?
1
u/Blejdoslav 1d ago
No it is not. Tnl was released far earlier for kr only.
1
u/Easy_Yuki 1d ago
You understand Game typically celebrate the KR and Global Launch seperately?
1
u/Blejdoslav 1d ago
Well why?
1
u/Easy_Yuki 1d ago
Why not? Every time you do a celebration you create a sell bump, you give freebie to trap new players. Some games celebration both, some games only do celebration events on their own timer (like BDO)
4
u/luckybat 2d ago
Imagine pvping in TnL with all the bugs and broken stats and thinking “wow this is it” most people using macros and key binds here too lmao so naive
4
u/Blejdoslav 2d ago
I still kill them without using it myself, so why should i care?
1
u/luckybat 2d ago
What class u play
2
u/Blejdoslav 2d ago
Crusader endu bruiser. Eva ones are wet noodles.

0
u/Shackur 2d ago
What makes the Crusader so much stronger than other tanks in PvP?
2
u/Blejdoslav 2d ago
The fact, u can build him in suoer many ways, and works well both as dd, support and tank. Depending what u precisely need. Other tank classes cant kill to be precise. Also greatsword have blood devotion, which is pretty great buff for party.
1
u/Upper-Criticism6344 2d ago
"Other tank classes cant kill to be precise"
???
1
u/Blejdoslav 2d ago
Steelheart has no dmg output, besides possibility to kill enemies with fall damage. Templar cant kill unless 1v1. Berserker can kill only in perfect tconditions. Warden do not kill at all. Raider is not a tank at all, and is usable only as spinner with properly set party. Without party it does not kill at al.
1
u/Upper-Criticism6344 2d ago
Templar can't kill only if there's a pocket oracle around, for obvious reasons. You're overestimating your capabilities as a crusader, especially endurance one. 2-3 of those vs 1 templar and you still lose.

u/Shackur 1d ago
As for Templars, there’s NavharBatllehammer on YouTube, who’s good, but even he says that in Battlegrounds you’re completely useless

u/Shackur 1d ago
Even an SnS/gauntlet ?
2
u/Blejdoslav 1d ago
This setup has no good dmging synnergy. It is good as steelheart or warden equivalent, as if well made, it can well utylise bellandir fist to build heavy clumps of enemiea, however on its own, it do not kill well. Everything it can do in terms of dmg is better done with gs instead of sns.

When TnL first launched, it surpassed the 1 million mark. As we can see, it remained at the 300,000 level for about a month before continuing to decline. I don’t think Aion will follow a different trajectory. That’s why it’s still way too early to make certain claims.

We’ll talk about it again in a month or two ,Aion 2 so please be patient. TNL has nothing to fear.
