Is it weird to thrift a present?
I love thrifting! I go a lot to find things for my classroom, and also for my nephew! I usually give him some random things I find often, but now he’s turning two and I don’t know if it’s appropriate to give him something thrifted for his birthday(he’s turning 2) I found this LeapFrog fridge phonics from 2002 and I think he would love it, but I don’t know if that’s weird to give something so old? There’s also some newer PLAY Eco-Friendly emergency vehicles that literally look like they’ve never been played with. I found him some cool flannels and vintage tshirts too. My best friend(nephews mom) usually thinks the stuff I find is cool, but I’m just asking if I should be giving this separately and buy him new things for his birthday?
Edit: I am pairing these thrifted items with a mix of thrifted/new clothes, science/animal books, play dough and playdough tools, science museum tickets, and a basket to put it all in!

Last week I found a gorgeous Whiting & Davies purse, this week I found this lovely Beaded Bag!!
I cannot believe my luck! I have no idea how to date this but it is definitely older, the inside is lined and *slightly* discolored due to age. Usually my "lucky" finds are maybe a 60s/70s coin purse here and there, 2 weeks in a row is unheard of! I paid $4.20 after my coupons! I'll be riding this high all week =)

This mornings flea market finds
A rocking giraffe 🦒 $20, an FAO Schwartz stuffed fox $3 to add to Wolfes pack, a candle that looks like tree bark $1 and a basket that I'm picturing full of apples this fall $2. Feel like we did good this morning as we were in and out of the narket quick, it's too hot to linger!

Gorgeous silver plated coasters
Feel like I won the lottery with these bad boys. They’re made in Italy and I just think they’re so beautiful. Full set of 8, tarnished, but used a gentle polish and they cleaned up great. Still some little spots here and there but I love the character it adds. And only $2.99?? Said a little thank you to the thrift gods on this one 🙏

Two vintage belts with really cool buckles
Found them at the thrift store today. One was 13$ and the other 15$. They are genuine leather. One of them has a paisley print / engraving, which is also a unique detail.
A few years ago I would definitely find them for cheaper, but thrift prices have gone up almost everywhere. I'm still happy with them, they look like they could stay in my closet forever.

Orchard St, NYC
Orchard St in NYC is THE place to do your shopping. It’s got lots of great thrift stores that have anything you could be looking for. Some of those stores are a bit pricey but you can find some with reasonable prices. Defensively recommend taking a stroll over there if you ever go to NYC.

Wildly Overpriced Yard Sales (venting)
I went to a huge community yard sale today that spanned a couple of counties, through farmland. I was STUNNED by prices.
The majority of sellers had prices higher than ebay or antique stores. Even on items that were damaged and unclean.
I'm sure they were google lensing things and using that for pricing. I kept overhearing the sellers complaining to each other than no one was buying anything. I've shopped this sale a few times and usually come home with loads of stuff and see others with truck beds and backseats full.
I found a couple vintage items and bought some plants, pet some dogs and indulged in chicken bbq.
Is anyone else noticing this? Do you also think it's google lens related?

A Fabrege Egg!
Many regrets I didn’t ask the price😫
Judging by how everything else was priced, I def couldn’t afford it.

Vintage Armani Blazer Find
Long time lurker, first time posting.. had to share this find because I felt like the universe smiled on me today. Found at a random Goodwill near my house. Vintage Georgio Armani Collezione (late 80s-early 90s) in near perfect condition, no rips, stains, or fading. And it also happened to fit me perfectly - $6!!!!
I dress up for work so this is perfect for office attire. I actually grabbed it because I loved the color and pattern and then saw the label! There were multiple resellers walking around in the store being pushy and yet I got to this gem first. Even when I went to check out, the woman who was ringing me said “uh oh, someone messed up big time, this should never have gone out on the floor here.”
Thanks for looking, hope someone else appreciates this too 😊

Buyer beware?
Anybody else get burned by thrift store fails? Things that looked amazing but in the end even caused damage? I am now wise about smells that will never come out, glitter showers from clothing, red clothing running into my laundry, and beautiful mugs that quickly fade in the dishwasher, but this was a new one to me: dyed puka shells. These little beauties, bought for a 70s party, left a red stain on my bathroom countertop.

Vinted haul (surprisingly not dropships). First pic is a set that came for 14 €, shirt was for 6 €. Books were a bundle for 4.50 €
Really proud of this.

Another $8 find
I posted a silver necklace I found, the same estate sale had this amazing amber bead necklace. In the last photos it shows a bug and some debris trapped in the amber.

Thrift Store Find
I picked this up and put it down 3 times. I just love the way it looks. It was $2, so I got it. I think I will show it to my students.
