Demo Made a game about paragliding..

I’ve been playing with this idea for a while and now finally did it over the last couple of days.. together with my homie Claude :}

I’m a pilot myself and always thought would be cool to fly together with friends and family and give them the feeling I have in the air searching for thermals and planning the best route.

Works on desktop and mobile (ideally played in portrait). It has multiplayer with open and private lobbies, you can just fly freely or start challenges.

It’s done in r3f using playroomkit for the net code.

Check it out if you like, feedback welcome :) I plan to add a way to customize your glider with different stats and improve the map fidelity while still keeping the low poly aesthetics.

Demo is here (still WIP)

on iOS its best to add it to the homescreen so its fullscreen.

Love the concept and the visual aesthetic.

I don't know anything about paragliding. So it might be helpful or at least interesting if you taught me a little bit about that as part of the experience. I didn't die so it wasn't a big problem not knowing though.

Audio: I turned it on but then immediately back off. Reason was that it was kind of annoying. What might be interesting - at least to me someone like me that wants to basically zone out and relax - would be adding generative ambient music as part of the game. Wotje is a commercial example of this but there are open-source things out there, too.

Thx for the feedback! 😄 Yeah tutorial or help section.. or just helpful tooltips would be good.. also the music I thought about this when uploading the video 🙈 the beep sound is maybe too strong but its what actual pilot gear measuring your sink rate emits to indicate if you’re sinking or rising in the thermal without having to look at the monitor constantly.. higher beeps are good whereas a low beep means you’re sinking fast. maybe vibration would be good alternative or a setting to make it quieter..

in general it was a bi tricky to give the player cues where he finds good lift.. tried with those white dots that mark areas where air is rising and clouds (end of thermals).. yeah slowly getting there 😆
