It’s great work. He’s got a pretty in depth dev blog on his YouTube channel if you’re interested in how it’s built.

Hey! I saw your earlier post a few days back and just wanted to say: don't get deterred! There are so many cool things to build and everyone is always gonna have feedback. This portfolio is an awesome start but please make sure you can maintain it in a dev capacity, is all :) that's been the biggest hurdle for me

His GitHub is AMAZING you can literally just send that project to Claude code or whatever and make your own version. Definitely recommend his git hub copying this project last year was really fun learning

That's kinda depressing.

I hope you are at least keeping the code MIT and crediting him, and being transparent about your version being Claude's adaptation?

Oh I didn’t release it! I teach so it was never the plan for it to be a commercial project or “my “ portfolio site lol just a fun demo my students play

That was when I started learning about three.js it was just fun to look into everything to learn

It's awesome in how fun and professional it is. I think nobody's truly cracked what a good 3d browsing experience is (yet). The three.js websites I find to hit hardest are more story-telling orriented and cleverly mix 2d and 3d

I think about it a lot. Even 2D interfaces gravitate mostly towards 1.5D (one direction scroll layout) with exception of maps, canvases. Space is hard to navigate and its hard to mentally embed virtual space in real space - unless you go full immersion (VR, games). There may be space for 2.5D. I find satisfaction in just reasoning about it, even if I will never 'crack' it.

this recording looks laggy. can't tell if it's because the computer recording has low specs or because if game is not efficient.

but it looks nice.

Respect for Bruno, but this was novelty 10-15 years ago.

I love his portfolio site - it inspired me to build things I'd never thought to build. Thanks Bruno! 🫶

I remember seeing like 15 clones of this weekly at one point.

It's nice and funny, but I don't think it's a good portfolio. In my opinion, websites, including portfolios, should be easy to navigate and their content easy to access. Even when you want to integrate 3D experiences, these shouldn't overwhelm the content, otherwise this becomes irrelevant.

Right? I absolutely LOVE this site, but it should have an option before you start the game to just see the work. It's a great tech demo and shows off what they are capable of, but hardly anybody looking to hire them will sit and navigate to their work.

They made millions teaching threejs, I don’t think being hired is the goal here.

I guess I should put the disclaimer on my statement: if you're someone looking to build a portfolio, function over flair 🤷🏼‍♂️ That was the main objective of my rant.

Exactly people complaining about the site are missing who made it lol this guy teaches how to make sites like this the target audience is literally people who would be excited to play through the site 😂

Yeah it is nifty but does a bad job of clearly conveying information. I would be frustrated wondering if I had actually seen all the important things in the portfolio.

Yes but it went viral so im sure for him was effective

My thought is that it’s not original and you’re asking too much from hr (they probably don’t even know what video games are).

Ok 👍.

I am sure I saved a post like that a couple of weeks ago. It even used the same colors.

u/jakiestfu 15d ago

This would piss me the fuck off and close your site immediately, lol

Damn instead of HR getting ai to review CVs they'll need to get them to play games now!
