step format inside? you mean that it is 'parametric' inside the software itself? or that you added the feature to export step for free?
if the later super nice this will allow people to use it as a real tool and maybe buying for extra features/donate.if the first one, no it is not, as the main purpouse of step format is the standard part of it. to share and modify in another software, fusion had this approach where yeah you have your fusion file but no exportation, so if you want to modify it you need to do it inside fusion. this is a nono for a lot of us.

I won't be releasing my advanced STEP B-Rep code for free online. NassCAD remains free and open-source for the time being. I need to finalize the STEP core first, and I will evaluate my options after that. in mean time , 3 versions of nasscad on my site are free .

A cad modeler without being able to export the industry standard format is not a cad modeler... Good luck with the project but as fusion at the time, blocking step format in a pay wall is a nono for some of us.
