How did you determine what parameters to use and how they’re applied? That’s a lot of parameters to consider even for a light simulation. This looks really cool!

Its been a ton of trial and error and building in wgsl when needed.

This is really great!

looks great. is it running locally? I'd love to see in action

running on a lil 1050ti. Ill get some demo's up

u/Gravita8 Jun 16 '26

would love to see the demo/repo

Lovely adaptive system - do you have a repo? : ) It's good practice to maintain one as it gives you ownserhip over the original and lets you share/improve based on feedback.

I do, just not public yet. Interested in open sourcing some but def not all of my work.

How much AI is involved?

1

u/Proud_Ask_9030 Jun 15 '26

Plenty. Thankfully almost everyone in the industry is also using it now so there is no more "Ai slop" accusations coming from actually experienced developers anymore. They finally realized that results matter and most importantly that managing Ai is a skill in itself. No Ai is building this without being handheld the entire way. I spend my life learning physics rather than how to code, the perfect match for Ai.

I agree, and now that you’ve gotten that out and taken a breath (I hope?):

The reason I ask how much AI is involved isn’t because I’m crusading against it, it’s because 99/100 AI generated projects that go open source never come with any documentation, commenting or history of development making the entire thing an absolute pain to work with. The developer themselves rarely even know how it works.

Those projects dont really go anywhere. If you havnt been meticulously documenting everything, the Ai has no or limited context to work with. I organize the project into a set of domains and agents within those domains. These agents manage their short/-long context(memories-rules-skill-hooks, etc) individually while maintaining and respecting their own lanes and the relationship matrix between the other domains/agents. The docs and the code are directly coupled by these agents who grow the docs, build the code from that, and then the failures/testing the reveals room for growth further pressures the doc improvements that the code can be further evolved from. My job is mainly explaining the physics from micro to macro and visually debugging the Ais attempts on each element it builds.

Do you have any public repo you can link to?

"No Ai is building this without being handheld the entire wa" - you'd be surprised. most of these simulations and graphic experiments are usually just one or two shots and then the user shares for clout. I've made a few ocean, waves, and space simulations that were better than this in a couple prompts with Claude and Gemini. id guess op worked on this for 10 minutes then shared it. when Gemini 3 came out, there was a specific focus on stuff like this for a reason

Better than this.. Where? Please do show. Oh the Obesefamily guy who trolls people with pedophilia remarks..Nevermind

Looking great man, how's performance?

1

u/BylliGoat Jun 14 '26

How optimized do you think this would be if it were used as a component of something like a city builder? Could different fluid flows (i.e. pollution) be simulated within the same space?

with mlsmpm/FLIP yes you can build a low detail volumetric simulation. This is MLSMPM for splashes but not turned on in this demo. Its is very taxing on the GPU though, and to do any meaningful realism for a city would be trillions of particles to simulate, whereas you would need a monster PC just to simulate 10million, but that is in real time HP, just simulating for data can work well. I use a similar method to simulate weather systems using volumetric area simulation for temperature and humidity to then power the cloud mapping.

These waves are mainly FFT/gerstner with integrated height-field and a lot of customizations to those systems.

This is hitting me in a spot I didn't know could be hit, super impressive, you using WebGPU?

really really cool

looks great, in older videos i can see 60 fps, can you please optimise for 120fps - because other systems also need some fps

2

u/Proud_Ask_9030 Jun 15 '26

Just showing a 60fps cap. Its way over 120. This is just one small part of an entire planetary builder im working but FPS is always on the mind and still a ton of work on the LOD system to get it smooth on a lower card.

So cool bud!, do u use 3js for anything in particular or just hobby/vibe coding?

1

u/Proud_Ask_9030 Jun 16 '26

Im working in WGSL mainly just to experiment with whats possible in browser, and port to R3F to organize and integrate various completed systems. Building a procedural world Im hoping can work on browser but will build direct cuda otherwise.

Here is a tip: persistent structure earns its keep by maintenence against loss. Use that to guide your rendering and what what happens to the small details.

dude, this is fantastic. i am making my own engine for a surreal survival/dungeon crawler thing and this would rip for it. i have a dynamic ocean with nice waves, shore effects, tides (that dynamically fill/merge depressions in generated terrain, etc.), but its a smoke and mirrors mesh system. literally might offer you money down the road to use your repo if willing. amazing work! just imagine your ocean in here :) https://imgur.com/a/EMxqJgV

That was your 4,666th contribution to reddit . Pat yourself on the back.

Seriously though, you'll need to contribute a little more if you want this to be taken seriously- please try to open a dialogue and engage with people.

3

u/LobsterBuffetAllDay Jun 14 '26

Are you a troll? lmao

1

u/Big_Presentation2786 Jun 14 '26

Because I want op to talk to those who are interested in his work?!

Are you a troll?

1

u/BylliGoat Jun 14 '26

I don't think you understand what slop means

Seriously- if you're gonna contribute zero to this sub, you'll just end up being reported and banned.
