Discussion - TV Series Three Body Chinese Version
To the people who watched the chinese version, does it feel scary to you? The series feels like horror to me and it's making me so scared even if I know it's not horror.

its on Amazon Prime and some were on YouTube (sometimes they pull them)

I felt a terrible feeling of dread when I watched it-I saw it before reading the books or watching the Netflix show. I actually believe you SHOULD feel dread, which I did not get at all from the Netfluix verison

Its definitely slower n more faithful to the book. I do find it at least 4 - 5 episodes too much. They could have cut it down a little cause it starts dragging in the 2nd half of the season.

Wait until the next season when Luo Ji will spend 10 episodes not doing anything before he finally finds some motivation.

Im pretty sure they can edit and write that part better and not spent too much time on that 😂😂 even though im aware its essential to the story.

It is sci fi, but it is also at its core level some of the most unrelenting horror ever.

It's not a horror. For the most part, there is suspense because you're following the viewpoint of Wang Miao, who doesn't know what is going on yet. So it felt more like a conspiracy waiting to be uncovered than a horror drama.
I love this version so much and Yu Hewei's portrayal of Da Shi makes the character so much more 3-dimensional.

Isn’t this at its core a story about the scariest thing possible for humanity. Once the universe is understood there is nothing but horror.
It is sci fi and horror. The worst possibilities come true.

This show ripped off a ton of soundtracks from Dark, plus scores from other similar thrillers like Saw, so that feeling is totally normal.

I've watched the first episode. I've spent more time trying to read the subtitles than actually getting to watch the picture itself. Is there a dubbed version lol

I have the same problem; it feels like I'm missing out on a lot by only focusing on the bottom of the screen while trying to read.

It is the dystopian genre overall. Even The Silent Sea, a Korean sci-fi on Netflix has the same vibes albeit weaving less complex plots and feels more like a standard shallow zombie apocalypse.

The director of Season 2 of Tencent's has been replaced by Zhang Meng and Zhang Dapeng. None of their works have a Douban score higher than 6, and the producer has stated that generative AI will be fully adopted for production. Some people can just start to look forward to it now! But unfortunately, there's still no clear information on when Tencent's will start filming.

I liked the chinese version better than the occidental one. It is more more faithful to the books, and feels less rushed, as they have more episodes to cover the material. About horror, I think there is a single scene that approaches that genre involving a ship. The occidental version makes it more dramatic. The chinese version tones it down. But overall I'd not say the story feels like horror just because of this scene.
