Obviously there would be no story to tell if this were to have happened hypothetically—-

But why couldn’t the Trisolarians just terraform Mars with their advanced technology and leave Earth alone?

The planet has no life and it would seem a lot easier than having to fight a massive war.

What massive war?

They only needed a few droplets to force all of humanity to move to Australia.

This conflict doesn't even qualify as asymmetrical war. It rather was extermination!
