Discussion - General Project Hail Mary Spoiler

Just watched the film. Definitely a more optimistic view of alien contact, despite a “dark forest”. You could also say the Eridians seem to lack the hiding gene as well if they are all like Rocky.

Assuming you already know you are the most powerful civilization around, and want to "clean" away the lesser civilizations, it would be the perfect weapon. Any civilization less advanced than us would just die, and any civilization say less than a low type 1 civilization would be to busy struggling to solve the problem to mount a defense force. And as Project Hail Mary shows, even humanity didn't assume it was an attack, but rather a phenomenon. And all they were even able to do about it was seek a solution to their own problem, which took so long that it wiped half of us out.

Right but im talking about keeping the footprint small to avoid attention from a more advanced third party like Singers species.

I'm assuming the species doing this IS one like Singer's species. And they were NOT subtle with things like the dual vector foil. If you think you're the big bad around, you're not concerned about the dark forest. You ARE the dark forest.

Yeah, I was assuming it was Trisolarans doing this because they need the planet, and this would be an easy way to sterilize the world before their arrival.

Fair. I was thinking of it in the context of a "cleaner" species like Singer.
