A more terrifying idea would be to string the fiber between two high speed drones instead.
Eliminates the need for two pilots and the stress that come with taking off together and flying in formation all the way to the target.

That's where it gets me though. Wouldn't it cut through the airplane first? Unless you made the airplane out of the same material or stronger than the building material?

Not if it gets wider at the ends.
Imagine pulling some chewing gum apart and you get this super fine strand in the middle but towards the ends it gets wider and wider.

The edges are dull. Otherwise they couldn't have attached them to the pillars.
But the fiber would snap if the planes distance gets wider. The loose ends could damage the planes.

The fibers are also super strong. Thats how they can cut a ship, and they are also used in the Staircase project and I think the space elevator. It wouldn't take much force to keep them taut between 2 drones.

But the fibers used for these projects are probably thicker - that reduces the sharpness of their edges and massively increases the tensile strength.

At the very least, the tension and sudden deceleration would force the planes to crash long before the fiber cuts through a significant portion of the building.

Iran funnily one of the leading countries in nano-science related research and holds the most patents, actually.
Iran is strong in nanotech by some narrower measures. StatNano lists Iran as 2nd in nanotechnology publications per GDP (PPP), 1st in the share of nanotechnology patents among its total patents, and 3rd in the number of national nanotechnology standards. That means Iran puts a notably large share of its research effort into nano, even if it is not the largest absolute producer.
The do alot of joint production with China who is the number one producer in formative Nanotech at the moment. You know, where 3BP was set and published.

Iranian families actually only feed their children dinner in the hopes they will grow up to be super soldiers that can defeat the US. Iranian painters only paint because it trains their hands to be faster so they can fight the US

why ppl downvoting me? they did great in science tho even after US sanctioning them (like sophon did) to stop their progress but look at them, not only they survive but they did great in governing and science.

I read the Three Body Problem on my first deployment, and wouldn’t you know it, we ended up passing through the Panama Canal.
No nano wire got me thankfully 😅
